Engineering Consulting Services is seeking an entry-level Environmental Scientist in Birmingham, AL. The role involves fieldwork, project collaboration, and interaction with contractors. Position: Environmental Scientist (Entry-Level)
What You'll Do

Engineering Consulting Services (ECS) is seeking a highly motivated Environmental Assistant Staff Project Manager to join our team. This role performs specific field tasks assigned per project by more senior staff. Your growth in responsibility will come with time and experience. This work will be field based with limited office work as experience is gained. An ideal candidate presents a positive customer service attitude and understanding of ECS Core Values.

Key Responsibilities
• Interact and collaborate with staff members on a variety of projects
• Attend project meetings with senior staff as requested
• Interface with contractors and other site personnel on project sites daily
• Keep supervisor informed of changing site conditions and/or additional testing requested on project sites
• Scheduling, training and oversight of environmental technicians
• Have completed internal Phase I ESA training
• Complete Phase I ESAs under the direction of supervisor
• Perform site reconnaissance, file review and report preparation accompanied by senior staff
• Possesses acceptable basic technical writing skills with regard to basic conventions of spelling, grammar, and professional content. Collaborates with more senior staff to produce reports. Works to improve writing skills, as necessary, under the direction of supervisors and Principal reviewers
• Other duties as assigned
What We're Looking For

Qualifications
• Bachelor and/or Master of Science in Civil Engineering, Environmental Engineering, or other Engineering degree applicable to Environmental Consulting, Natural or Environmental Science, Geology, or other degree relevant to the practice of Environmental Consulting
• No experience needed
• If driving for, or on behalf of, any ECS subsidiary, a valid driver’s license is required

Skills and Abilities
• Basic knowledge of environmental principles and applications
• Basic knowledge of permitting processes, environmental regulations, and environmental test methods
• Interest in project management, consulting, and business development
• Must be able to lift a minimum of 40 pounds a number of times each day and walk on uneven ground through various terrains
