Job Description

McCormick Taylor is seeking an Environmental Scientist with a Bachelor's in Environmental Science or related field and 2-5 years' experience. The successful candidate will perform the role of an Environmental Scientist supporting Energy projects. We are seeking an individual who can work on a team on multiple projects, meet deadlines and work well in a hybrid office environment. Strong written, interpersonal, and oral communication skills, attention to detail and ability to organize is preferred. Previous experience collaborating with team members virtually is preferred. The candidate will be expected to report to McCormick Taylor’s office in one of the following locations: Baltimore, MD; Newark, DE; Philadelphia, PA; Pittsburgh, PA; Salisbury, MD; Mount Laurel, NJ; Glen Allen, VA.

Role would entail supporting the project team in support of obtaining the local, state and federal approvals for energy clients. Knowledge of resource assessments and environmental documentation (state and federal) for projects is preferred. Experience with Energy Utilities, environmental studies/analysis, and local permitting (VA/MD/DE/NJ/PA) is preferred.

• Assist with Environmental Assessment efforts
• Assist Senior technical staff with the following:
• Support resource assessment, including field work, data collection, and report development.
• Support local, state and federal permitting efforts for various infrastructure project types
• Support environmental compliance assessments and implement follow-up corrective actions to ensure compliance with federal, state, and local regulations
• Support project tasks, including document development, fieldwork and agency/client coordination
• Develop an awareness of state and federal environmental regulations
• Attend project meetings and support development of meeting materials and minutes
• Successfully complete tasks within allotted time frame and budget

Qualifications
• No prior experience required; however, candidates with 2-5 years of experience are preferred.
• Bachelor's Degree in Environmental Science, Natural Resources or a related field
• Technical and field experience preferred in wetland delineation and other natural resource surveys, environmental data collection, compliance monitoring and environmental permitting
• Knowledge of environmental regulatory compliance and documentation, and experience with field work (natural resource assessments) preferred
• Strong communication and technical writing skills
• Detail oriented with the ability to handle multiple concurrent assignments
• Strong ability to work in a team environment
• Must have the ability to work in the field in different weather conditions
• Must be able to physically navigate in the field
• Occasional weekend and holiday work may be required.
