Atlas is hiring an Environmental Scientist (EIR Scientist 1) for their Williston, VT office. The role involves field data collection, sampling, and office tasks to support hazardous site investigations. We are seeking an Environmental Scientist (EIR Scientist 1) to join our Williston, VT team. This position will be responsible for performing field data collection, sampling (soil, groundwater, soil vapor, and surface water), and office tasks (including field activity planning, preparation, and summary reporting) to support hazardous site and brownfield investigations under Vermont Department of Environmental Conservation IRule, BRELLA, and BERA Programs.

Successful candidates could also receive cross training and potential alternative assignments based on workload that might include conducting facility inspections, operating drinking water systems, conducting PCB, asbestos or lead assessments, and overseeing subcontractor work.

Job Responsibilities Include But Are Not Limited To
• Collect soil, soil vapor, and groundwater samples
• Perform operation & maintenance of soil and groundwater remediation systems
• Organizing and prioritizing a diverse workload; maintaining accurate records
• Oversee soil borings and monitoring well installations
• Conduct data analysis and interpretation of field and analytical data
• Assist with Phase I and Phase II environmental site assessments
• Ability to communicate and work constructively with others
• Perform environmental, health and safety services
• Assist with industrial hygiene projects

Minimum Requirements
• Four-year degree in environmental studies or related field of study
• 3-7 years' experience in environmental or hazardous materials testing.

Technical Requirements
• Proficient in MS Office, possess excellent communications and interpersonal skills, and be able to work effectively with minimum supervision.
• Proficient in AutoCad and GIS desired.
• Excellent skills in technical writing and verbal communication
• 40-hour Hazwoper certification desired, but not required as this training can be provided to you upon offer and acceptance.

Other Miscellaneous Qualities
• Ability to travel up to but not limited to 75%
• Working vehicle, although an option to use company vehicle for field work depending upon availability of vehicle.
• Course work in Environmental Sciences, Geology, Soil Science, Hydrogeology, Environmental Engineering related fields.
