Job Description and Duties
Anadromous fish hatcheries in the North Central Region help support populations of Chinook Salmon and steelhead trout. The North Central Region Hatchery team is looking for a motivated and passionate candidate to fill an Environmental Scientist position.
Under the close supervision of the Senior Environmental Scientist Supervisor and in close coordination with the North Central Region Hatchery Team, incumbent applies scientific methodologies to develop and implement parentage-based tagging programs at the Feather River Fish Hatchery and supports the production and release of fall-run Chinook Salmon and steelhead trout through the collection and analysis of hatchery data.

Working Conditions
The in-office work site will be at the CDFW Chico Field Office at 629 Entler Ave Suite 12, Chico, CA 95928. Field work may be conducted throughout the region and/or state, including at the Feather River Fish Hatchery located at 5 Table Mountain Blvd., Oroville, CA 95965. Work schedule may include weekends, holidays, and unusual hours as assigned, required, or necessary. Must be willing to work in extreme weather conditions, as required. Must possess and maintain a valid driver's license required for operating department vehicles in traveling between office and field sites. Must be able to use a computer, keyboard, and Microsoft Office software several hours a day. Occasional travel may be required. This position requires the incumbent to wear a uniform identifying the employee as CDFW staff on certain occasions.
