Job Description

APTIM seeks an entry-level Environmental Scientist in Huntsville, AL, to support field inspection and characterization at Redstone Arsenal. Responsibilities include collecting and documenting environmental data, analyzing samples, and ensuring regulatory compliance. Candidates should have a Bachelor's in a scientific discipline and 0-2 years of experience. APTIM currently has career growth opportunities for entry level Environmental Scientists to join our project team in support of ongoing inspection and characterization activities at Redstone Arsenal located in Huntsville, AL. This opportunity will primarily focus on oversight and documentation of field activities, including the collection of environmental samples and associated technical reporting. Strong interpersonal skills are required, including the ability to communicate clearly and confidently, both written and verbally, to all project team members including client representatives, regulators, and APTIM colleagues alike. Occasional travel to other project locations to support field activities will be required.

Responsibilities
• Collection, documentation, and interpretation of field environmental data for management review and incorporation into project documents.

• Utilization of various field sampling and monitoring equipment, including knowledge of equipment calibration and maintenance.
,
• Analyze and prepare raw data into workable form for engineering/scientific project reports and other project documents.
,
• Conformance to applicable regulatory codes and standards as well as company policies and procedures.
,
• Adherence to established schedule and budgets for the performance of field and office work activities.
,
• Work collaboratively in a team environment, provide input on technical, project, and safety issues.
,
• Possess a 'Safety First' work ethic.

Requirements
• Bachelor's Degree in a Scientific Discipline (Geology, Environmental Science, Environmental Engineering, etc.)
,
• Possess 0-2 years of relevant industry experience.
,
• Valid Driver's License with Clean Driving Record required.
,
• Possess or have ability to readily obtain 40-hour OSHA HAZWOPER certification.
,
• Ability to wear proper PPE for work on hazardous waste sites; lifting and physical work will be required.
,
• Core competency in Microsoft Office Products, including Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
,
• Must be able to work in the field in all types of field conditions/weather.
,
• Willingness to work occasional overtime, including weekends, to meet project deadlines.
,
• Ability to travel for field assignments.
