Trees For Tomorrow seeks an Environmental Science Educator and Careers Workshop Coordinator in Eagle River, WI. Trees For Tomorrow (TFT) is an accredited residential environmental education center in Eagle River WI that has been promoting conservation education since 1944. Today, TFT works with thousands of teachers, students, and other members of the public to promote sustainable natural resource management through transformative educational experiences. This is your chance to share your love for the outdoors with others, all while living and working in one of the most beautiful places in the Midwest!Environmental Science Educator Responsibilities:Teach environmental science to preK-12 groups in the forests and waters of Wisconsin’s NorthwoodsPresent courses and special programs in a knowledgeable, stimulating, engaging, and objective manner Guide participants of all ages and backgrounds in safe outdoor inquiry-based learning and activities.Work with education team to write and edit curriculum and assess student learningOperate all equipment related to course and program presentation.Interact with live program animals, and animal artifacts such as skulls, pelts, and other taxidermy.Other duties as assigned, including opportunities to create and coordinate programs you are passionate about!HS Careers Exploration Week Program Coordinator ResponsibilitiesAbout TFT’s Careers Exploration Week for High Schoolers: TFT’s “Natural Resources Careers Exploration Week” (NRCEW) has helped high school students from across the upper Midwest discover the possibilities of working outdoors for over 30 years! Students have the opportunity to meet working professionals in the natural resources field and learn about different careers. They experience real-life field-work, learn about education and training requirements, expected salary ranges and what today's job market looks like. They also gain exposure to a variety of natural resources issues, learn life skills and have the opportunity to make new friends who share their interests. TFT’s NRCEW coordinator works to: Set program schedule, including securing a diverse array of natural resource professionals as speakers. Serve as primary contact person for questions from applicants and participants regarding NRCEWWork with TFT communications team to produce NRCEW materials including print and digital advertisements and mailings. Provide direction and communication to other educators and other TFT departments working with the program.Other duties as assigned. Qualifications:Bachelor’s degree in field of natural resources, biology, education or related field preferred, though relevant experience may be considered in lieu of education. Experience in the field(s) of outdoor/environmental education, general education, or natural sciencesFamiliarity with Next Generation Science Standards (NGSS) preferred but not requiredCurrent valid driver’s licenseProficiency in Microsoft OfficeAbility to manage a group of students and chaperones (30+ at a time).Willingness to learn and teach outdoor skills such hiking, canoeing, cross-country skiing, snowshoeing, biking, fire building, etc.Willingness to interact with live program animals and taxidermyAbility to walk 5 miles per day with a 10lb pack over rough terrain, and lift 25 lbs. overheadAbility to drive a 15-passenger van with a canoe trailerWillingness to obtain a Commercial Drivers’ License (CDL) and drive 70-passenger bus as neededHigh sense of professionalism, strong team player, positive attitudeGood organizational skills and self-motivatedBenefits:All meals provided when working with a groupFlexible schedule and supportive team atmospherePaid professional development including travel to state and regional conferences and membership in professional environmental and education organizationsPay competitive with other environmental education centers in the regionTo Apply: email cover letter, resume, and 3 references to Kim Feller at kim@treesfortomorrow.com
