Position Overview

The University of California, Santa Barbara Marine Science Institute is seeking a highly motivated Postdoctoral Researcher to join our team. As a key member of our research group, you will contribute to the design and implementation of the Ecosystem Services Observation Network (ESON). This ambitious project aims to address critical gaps in monitoring capabilities by employing advanced technologies and methodologies to collect, analyze, and interpret environmental and biological data across multiple scales and functional groups.

Your primary goal will be to enhance predictive models of ecosystem change and improve management strategies for the conservation and sustainable use of coastal resources. You will work closely with interdisciplinary teams to integrate biological observations with physical environmental data and engage with stakeholders to refine monitoring strategies and incorporate community-driven data collection.

Responsibilities include conducting research utilizing synchrony patterns among key functional groups in the ocean, analyzing time-series data for detecting emergent biophysical links and dynamics within the California Current Ecosystem, collaborating with interdisciplinary teams, engaging with stakeholders, and publishing findings in peer-reviewed journals and presenting results at international conferences.
