Responsibilities:
Provide environmental / construction compliance oversight on large multi-year infrastructure projectsPrepare clear accurate and compliant environmental monitoring reports under CGP and Clean Water ActLead field-based investigations including wetland and other resource area delineations using state and federal methodologiesPrepare clear accurate and compliant environmental review documentation under NEPA MEPA CEPA etc.Prepare clear accurate and compliant environmental permit applications under federal state and local regulations including Section 404 of the Clean Water Act MA Wetlands Protection Act and local wetland bylawsSupport municipal and state agency clients across New England with environmental permitting ecological assessments and regulatory complianceCollect analyze and interpret environmental data to guide ecological evaluations and project planningPresent projects at public hearingsPrepare technical comment letters review SWPPP and dewatering plans and ensure consistency with regulatory requirementsCoordinate with agencies such as MassDEP USACE CTDEEP RIDEM CRMC and local conservation commissionsMaintain detailed field notes and contribute to technical reports that inform client decision-makingPerform environmental permitting feasibility studies to guide project planning and decision-makingCollaborate with engineers planners and scientists to deliver high-quality well-coordinated project outcomesGuide and mentor junior staff in project tasks and professional growthPreferred location is BETAs Norwood MA office. Candidates should have flexibility to work from our other office locations. BETA also offers a hybrid work schedule allowing employees to request working remotely up to 2 days per week.

Bachelors degree in Geology Environmental Science Natural Resource Science Soils Science Environmental Engineering or a related field6 to 10 years of experience in environmental consulting wetland science or ecological complianceEPA Construction Inspection Training Course Certificate or equalProven ability to oversee construction for compliance with the NPDES Construction General Permit and other environmental permitsPrevious experience working on transportation and publicly-funded projectsProven experience conducting wetland/resource area delineations using state and federal protocolsFamiliarity with New England environmental regulationsPrevious experience presenting complex projects in a public settingProven ability to work both independently and collaboratively within a team environmentStrong client management abilities with a focus on fostering new business opportunitiesStrong technical writing skills including the ability to prepare clear accurate and formal reportsStrong leadership and organizational skillsMust be able to collect field data and measurementsMust be able to lift/move objects weighing up to 40 poundsMust be able to perform field work in both hot and cold weather (rain and/or snow)Must be able to stand or sit for long periods of timeMust have a valid drivers license and reliable transportationPreferred Experience/Skills :
Proven ability to lead initiatives successfully while maintaining excellent planning and coordination skillsPWS or WPIT CertificationCESSWI CPESC and/or CPSWQQualified to perform wetland delineation in CT (e.g. member of SSSSNE)Familiarity with MA Wetlands Protection Act local bylaws and MEPA regulationsFamiliarity with MA Stormwater Management StandardsAbout BETA:
