Valor Hospitality is seeking an Environmental Educator (Naturalist) for The Lodge at Gulf State Park in Hoover, AL. The role involves developing and conducting environmental education programs, leading nature hikes, and preparing presentations on conservation. The position requires enthusiasm, a positive attitude, and teamwork to engage various audiences in understanding nature conservation.

THE ROLE
Position: Naturalist
Reports To: Director of Learning Campus

POSITION PROFILE:
Under direct supervision of the Director of Learning Campus assists in developing and conducting environmental education programs, assists with special events, and performs day-to-day operational tasks.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTION:
• Assists in the planning and preparation of educational programs with regard to the environment that help people understand the importance of nature conservation.
• Create nature hikes, classroom discussions, and lectures to teach the public about aspects of nature conservation.
• Prepare presentations on environmental conservation and present to guests on behalf of the company.
• Must have an enthusiastic, courteous, positive attitude and team spirit.
• Conduct on-site educational programs to a variety of audiences.
• Respond to questions and comments in a timely manner and in a manner which creates interest in environmental conservation.
• Establishes positive relationships with the community and guests.
• Other duties as assigned.
DESIRED SKILLS AND QUALIFICATIONS:
Education: Bachelor's degree in Park Management, Biological Science, Forestry, Wildlife Management, or related field.
Experience: Experience in planning, organizing, or conducting natural resources interpretative environmental/cultural/historical programs, special events, or activities will substitute for the required Bachelor's degree.
Skills and Abilities: Self-motivated and passionate about all components of the environment. Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Attention to detail and customer service oriented. Strong time management and multitasking skills. Ability to take and implement strategic direction.
