Step into Your New Role
Kleinfelder is seeking a Senior Civil Engineer to join our growing Mid-Atlantic design team which supports both our Abandoned Mines Program and Energy clients. Duties include the creation of designs, reports and calculations on complex energy, abandoned mine reclamation and discharge treatment projects in our team orientated environment. This position will participate in the technical execution of engineering projects including site designs, environmental permitting, site modeling and grading. The successful candidate will interact with PMs, senior operations and technical staff and provide guidance for task management of entry level professionals. This is a hybrid position for our New Cumberland, PA office.
The project work will be multi-disciplinary in nature, however experience in Pennsylvania with PA DEP and the Bureau of Abandoned Mine Reclamation is a plus. The ideal candidate will understand engineering practices and principles as they relate to surface water resources and site planning activities with specific experience in the Florida regulatory environment. Project types include surface mining, wetland and stream restoration, reclamation analyses and site water resources engineering. Opportunities to support solar site developments and our resiliency practice as part of our team.
What you'll be doing:
• Designing and preparing construction-ready plans, reports, details, and calculations
• Perform site visits to perform job scoping and coordinate with subconsultants
• Participate in the conceptual development of site designs and aid in its organization, scheduling, and implementation
• Evaluate design alternatives to solve constructability and site challenges
• Communicate with project development and project management teams to coordinate design requirements and scheduling
• Provide consulting expertise to clients to address immediate needs and long-term strategies
What you'll need:
• Knowledge of Pennsylvania, West Virginia, and Maryland specific rules and permitting regulations
• Familiarity with AutoCAD drafting software, ArcGIS and various hydrologic and hydraulic engineering software programs (HEC-RAS 1D and 2D and ICPR is strongly preferred)
• Ability to coordinate and prioritize multiple projects and tasks
• Capability to form and nurture relationships in order to create a partnership mindset
• Creative thought to solve problems
• Industry engagement by holding leadership positions in industry or community organizations
Minimum requirements:
• PA Professional Engineer licensure
• Five (5) years of design experience with regulatory agencies in the State of Pennsylvania
• Bachelor's or Master's degree in Civil, Environmental or Biological Engineering
• Ability to travel in and out of state as needed
