Job Description
AECOM is seeking a Senior Civil Engineer to support major transportation infrastructure projects in Louisville, Kentucky. This role will serve as a technical lead on large, ongoing transportation programs while also supporting a strong backlog of work for regional clients. The position offers the opportunity to lead complex roadway, highway, bridge, and multimodal infrastructure efforts while collaborating with multidisciplinary teams to deliver high-quality solutions for public sector clients.
The successful candidate will play a key role in strengthening AECOM’s transportation practice in Kentucky. This position offers significant autonomy to shape project delivery, mentor junior engineers, and expand technical leadership within the team. Key Responsibilities
Serve as technical lead and project manager for large transportation projects, ensuring successful delivery of scope, schedule, budget, and quality objectives.
Provide technical oversight and guidance for roadway, highway, bridge, and multimodal transportation design projects.
Support execution of existing transportation programs and contribute to delivery of a strong backlog of work.
Coordinate multidisciplinary teams including roadway, structures, traffic, drainage, and environmental specialists.
Manage project schedules, budgets, and resources while maintaining strong client relationships.
Review engineering designs, technical reports, and contract documents to ensure compliance with applicable standards and client requirements.
Mentor and support the development of junior engineers and technical staff.
Participate in project planning, risk management, and strategic execution of key transportation initiatives.
Collaborate with leadership on project staffing, technical strategy, and long-term growth of the transportation team.
Qualifications
Minimum Requirements
Bachelors degree plus 8 years of related experience or demonstrated equivalency of experience and/or education
Preferred Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering
Professional Engineer (PE) license.
Experience delivering transportation projects for state or local agencies.
Demonstrated experience leading roadway, highway, bridge, or multimodal infrastructure projects.
12+ years of transportation engineering experience with a focus on managing and delivering complex infrastructure projects.
Experience serving as a technical lead on large multidisciplinary transportation programs.
Proven ability to mentor staff and contribute to the development of high-performing engineering teams.
Computer proficiency in MicroStation and AutoCAD software packages, including OpenRoads Designer
Ability to proactively communicate and lead department staff
Additional Information
This role does not support Visa Sponsorship now or in the future.
Offered rate of compensation will be based on individual education, qualifications, experience, and work location. The range for this position is $125000 to $150000.
