Massachusetts Clean Energy is offering a Hardware Design Intern position for Electrical Engineering students in Framingham, MA. The internship focuses on designing high-efficiency power electronic systems, including inverters and converters. Interns will assist in circuit design, simulations, prototype testing, and documentation, gaining hands-on experience under the guidance of senior engineers. Candidates should be enrolled in an Electrical Engineering program with a basic understanding of power electronics.

Job Description: We are excited to offer an internship position for a Power Electronics Engineer Intern. This role is ideal for a motivated and talented engineering student who is eager to gain hands-on experience in designing and developing high-efficiency power electronic systems. The intern will work under the guidance of experienced engineers and will contribute to ongoing projects while gaining valuable industry knowledge.


Job Duties/Responsibilities

Assist in the design and development of power electronic circuits, including high-efficiency inverters and DC/DC converters.
Support the team in conducting simulations and modeling to optimize designs for efficiency, size, and cost.
Help in building and testing prototypes, and analyze test data to evaluate performance.
Collaborate with senior engineers to understand integration of power electronics in system-level designs.
Participate in the preparation of design documentation, including schematics and test procedures.
Learn and apply best practices in PCB design and layout.
Assist in troubleshooting and resolving issues during development and testing phases.
Engage in collaborative projects and team meetings, contributing ideas and feedback.
Gain exposure to the latest trends and developments in power electronics.

Qualifications

Currently enrolled in a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree program in Electrical Engineering, with a focus on Power Electronics.
Basic knowledge of power electronic devices, control theory, and circuit design.
Familiarity with simulation tools such as PSpice, PSIM, MATLAB/Simulink, or similar is a plus.
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
Eagerness to learn and grow in the field of power electronics.
Effective communication and teamwork skills.
