Job Description
Barrow Wise Consulting is seeking an Economist to support projects in Maryland. Responsibilities include leading policy development for electricity transmission, analyzing utility financials, and providing expert testimony. Candidates should have a Master's or Ph.D. in Economics or related fields, with over 10 years of experience in regulatory economics. The position offers a competitive salary of $90K–175K, full-time schedule, and includes remote work with some required travel to Maryland.

Responsibilities:
The Economist will support Barrow Wise's Maryland project and perform the following duties:
Lead policy development and provide regulatory clauses concerning electricity transmission Develop the economic strategy for the expansion of utility services including transmission lines across the State Develop the economic justification for high-threshold ratepayer protectionsAudit the complex Cost-of-Service Studies (COSS) submitted by utility companiesAnalyze engineering documentation and list the impacts Provide testimony in reports and as an expert witness Work Remotely but some travel to Maryland is required
An ideal candidate has the following:
U.S. CitizenshipAdvanced degree (Master's or Ph.D.) in Economics, Finance or Public PolicyDeep, practical expertise in Class Cost Allocation, Jurisdictional Cost-of-Service Studies (COSS), and utility revenue requirement modeling10+ years of applied experience in regulatory economics, utility finance, or rate design
