We are seeking an experienced and highly motivated Project Construction Manager to lead the construction and successful delivery of a utility-scale solar PV power plant in Kenya.


This position offers an exciting opportunity to work on a major renewable energy project and play a key role in supporting sustainable energy development across the region.


Position Summary The Project Construction Manager will be responsible for overseeing all on-site construction activities for a utility-scale solar PV project from mobilization through commissioning and handover. The successful candidate will manage contractors, subcontractors, schedules, budgets, quality, safety, and stakeholder communications to ensure the project is delivered safely, on time, and within budget.


The position will be primarily site-based, with the project site located approximately 100 km from Nairobi.


Key Responsibilities

Manage all construction activities for the solar PV project. Coordinate EPC contractors, subcontractors, consultants, and suppliers. Monitor project schedules and ensure timely completion of project milestones. Oversee site safety and ensure compliance with all HSE requirements. Manage construction budgets, progress reporting, and cost control. Coordinate civil, mechanical, electrical, and commissioning activities. Conduct regular site inspections and progress meetings. Identify and mitigate construction risks and delays. Ensure compliance with project specifications, quality standards, and contractual requirements. Manage relationships with clients, utilities, consultants, and local authorities. Support commissioning, testing, energization, and project handover activities. Prepare and submit regular project reports to senior management. Required QualificationsEducation Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering, Civil Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Construction Management, or a related discipline. Experience Candidates must possess:
Minimum 5–10 years of construction management experience in industrial, infrastructure, power generation, or renewable energy projects. Minimum 3–5 years of direct utility-scale solar PV construction experience. Proven involvement in the successful delivery of at least two solar PV projects of 50MW or greater capacity. Experience managing contractors, subcontractors, and multidisciplinary construction teams. Strong understanding of: Solar PV systems Civil and structural works Electrical installation Medium and High Voltage systems Substations and grid interconnections Testing and commissioning activities Experience with project scheduling, cost control, and construction reporting. Knowledge of health, safety, environmental, and quality management requirements. Excellent leadership, communication, and stakeholder management skills. Preferred Qualifications Experience on solar projects exceeding 100MW. Experience working on projects in Africa or other emerging markets. Experience with Battery Energy Storage Systems (BESS). Familiarity with Tier-1 solar module and inverter technologies. Experience using Primavera P6 and/or Microsoft Project.
