Job Description
The Conservation Legacy Corps Member - Indigenous Cultural Preservation position involves young adults engaging in conservation projects while developing skills in environmental stewardship. Participants will work on various projects, receive training, and engage in community service. Applicants must be at least 17 years old, have a high school diploma or equivalent, and be physically able to work in challenging conditions. This is a full-time, on-site position based in Kinnear, WY.
About the Program
The Ancestral Lands Conservation Corps (ALCC) is a unique opportunity for young adults to engage in challenging and impactful conservation projects while developing valuable skills and knowledge in environmental stewardship. Our program is designed to foster a sense of community and promote environmental awareness among participants, who come from diverse backgrounds and have varying levels of experience.
Program Objectives
• To provide hands-on training and experience in environmental stewardship.
• To foster a sense of community and promote environmental awareness among participants.
• To develop valuable skills and knowledge in project management, team leadership, and communication.
Program Structure
Our program consists of three main components:
• Project Work: Participants will work on conservation projects, such as trail construction & maintenance, habitat improvement, hazardous fuels reduction, re-vegetation, historic preservation, and local environmental service projects.
• Education and Training: Participants will receive ongoing training and education in environmental stewardship, project management, team leadership, and communication.
• National Service: Participants will participate in national service activities, such as community outreach and engagement, and volunteer events.
Requirements
To be successful in this program, participants must:
• Be at least 17 years old.
• Have a high school diploma, HS Equivalency Degree (HSED), or commitment to acquiring HSED while in the program.
• Be able to commit fully to the program and its mission for the full duration of the term.
• Have a positive attitude and a willingness to learn.
• Be physically able to work long days in adverse conditions.
