Climate Change Education Research Intern

Cambridge University Press & Assessment is seeking a Climate Change Education Research Intern to support research on the impacts of climate change education on pro-environmental behaviors. Responsibilities include analyzing data collection instruments, identifying data gaps, and contributing to questionnaire development. Candidates should have experience in research design and a strong interest in climate change education. The internship lasts 8 weeks, starting July 13 and ending September 4.
We want to help students develop the skills and sensibilities to be responsible and empowered citizens in a time shaped by climate change. In this role you will help us to further develop our understanding of how knowledge and classroom experiences from climate change education contribute to pro-environmental behaviours. As part of this role, you will:
• Examine data collection instruments being used to measure the impacts of climate change education with respect to pro-environmental behaviours
• Work with stakeholders to identify data gaps of interest
• Propose a potentially useful survey focus to address one of these gaps
• Begin contributing to a pool of items for a questionnaire as time allows
• Gain experience in several aspects of research and collaboration, including evidence synthesis and presentation of findings to the team
• Help lay the groundwork for future impact evaluation of climate change education at Cambridge International and the development of new knowledge about the longer-term impacts of climate change education interventions more broadly, Applying for our internship is simple, and we're here to support you every step of the way! You have some experience finding information about research design, measures and/or data collection instruments in reports or academic texts, and you are generally interested in the aims of climate change education. You will be working closely with a researcher on the Education Futures team; however, you will be expected to take responsibility for your own work day-to-day and will need to be comfortable working independently. To be successful in this role, the following skills, values and behaviours are desirable:
• Active or recent involvement in a university-level degree programme in a field involving the interpretation and/or synthesis of empirical research in the social or natural sciences
• The ability to find academic research sources in standard databases
• Good reading comprehension in English with reasonable speed
• The ability to develop good working relationships while also having the confidence and motivation to work independently.
