Job Description
C40 Cities Climate Leadership Group seeks a Board Relations Manager in London to oversee high-level governance processes. Responsibilities include managing the annual governance cycle, project management, logistics for Board meetings, and editing governance papers. The role requires 3-4 years of project management experience, attention to detail, and proficiency in various software tools. The postholder must work in the London office at least once a week.
C40 is a network of nearly 100 mayors of the world's leading cities working to deliver urgent action to confront the climate crisis. Using a data-driven approach, C40's international staff work with the C40 network under the leadership of city governments to identify and promote proven programmes and policies, provide world-class research and technical expertise, and communicate cities' achievements.
The Governance and Executive Engagement department stewards the Executive Director, C40 Co-Chairs, Steering Committee and Board. The Board Relations Manager is responsible for the seamless execution of C40's highest-level decision-making processes, serving as the 'centre of excellence' for board operations, combining rigorous project management with excellent editorial oversight to ensure all governance outputs are professional, consistent and punctual.
Responsibilities include: managing the annual governance cycle for the C40 Inc. Board and UK Board and their sub-committees; managing and optimising the internal project management system; handling all Board-related logistics (travel, venue, catering); coordinating and editing slide decks for Board meetings; acting as primary liaison for staff regarding governance processes and with the legal and compliance team; sub-editing all governance papers; translating complex data into high-impact presentations; drafting formal correspondence, papers and briefing notes; project managing C40's all-staff newsletter and calls; managing departmental procurement processes; and coordinating monthly departmental calls.
Person specification: 3-4 years experience managing projects to a high standard; process-first mindset with excellent attention to detail; proven editorial excellence; ability to manage multiple senior stakeholders; experience of Asana (or similar PM tools), Adobe Suite, Microsoft Suite and Google Suite; ability to handle highly sensitive confidential information; experience working on governance / board relations processes. Applicants must already have the right to work in the United Kingdom. The postholder is expected to come to the London office at least once per week. Salary: GBP £54,920 gross per annum (Grade 4). Term: Indefinite.
