The role involves conducting industrial wastewater treatment, monitoring processes, troubleshooting issues, and operating various equipment. About The Role
Position Description:
The Wastewater Technician II is a position within the Industrial Wastewater operations at Covanta Environmental Solutions (CES).


The Wastewater
Technician II will be experienced and capable to conduct industrial wastewater treatment on all water streams utilizing the various technologies and chemicals available to them independently.
The Wastewater
Technician II will also be adept in petroleum recovery operations The Wastewater Technician II will be proficient in waste stream sampling, tanker transfers, waste stream QA/QC, bench testing, waste stream treat code assignments, batch wastewater treatment, and basic petroleum recovery operations.

Technician II will be mechanically inclined to liquids management and troubleshoots for transfer operations.

Technician II will also be cross trained to conduct sludge press operations, tank wash, and non-bulk operations.
Responsibilities

Monitor and control treatment processes including filtration, chemical addition, aeration, and heat cracking to ensure water quality meets standards
Respond to alarms and troubleshoot issues promptly to prevent operational interruptions
Operate and maintain a variety of equipment such as pressure washers, power tools, hand trucks, forklifts, yard dog, high vac trucks, wheel loaders, excavators, boom lifts, scissor lifts, and other power tools in accordance with company policies and procedures as well as Occupational Health and Safety requirements.
Monitor and operate basic boiler functions and wastewater evaporators while maintaining physical and electronic reporting logs
Sampling tanker trucks and containers.
Using a hose connection and unloading of tanker trucks.
Performing waste stream QA/QC And coordinate with leadership on necessary treatment
Performing oil line and wastewater treatment line operations.
Maintain a neat and clean working environment and ensure availability of all supplies necessary for assigned tasks.
Submit all associated paperwork, as required, for regulatory and safety record keeping requirements.
Comply with safety and environmental regulations rigorously, such as when working with hazardous chemicals or in confined spaces
Responsible for ensuring the proper paperwork, marking, and labeling is affixed to the containers being managed in compliance with Reworld standards and TDG.
Responsible for load compliance to TDG and appropriate Ontario Regulations.
Create and manage manifests in the appropriate portal (RPRA).
Act as a Reworld representative when dealing with third party contractors such as drivers
Other duties as assigned

Requirements

High School Diploma / GED required
2-4 years of experience
Ability to kneel, crawl, stoop, bend, and twist for extended periods of time.
Ability to lift over 50 pounds
Ability to work from heights and in confined spaces
Consistently work in various weather conditions
Ability to pass respirator fit test
Proficient in Microsoft Office, specifically Outlook, Word, and Excel
Ability to work overtime and weekends, as required

Preferred Qualifications

40-hour HAZWOPER certification
Wastewater OIT
Diploma or degree in related field, such as chemistry or environmental science
First aid/CPR/AED certification
Confined space entry certification
Experience in NetSuite
Boiler license preferred
Excellent written and verbal communication skills
