Job Description
As Vice President, Environmental Health and Safety (EHS), you will lead the production EHS organization at NBCUniversal. The successful candidate will develop and lead the implementation of strategy and standards that ensure the protection and safety of NBCUniversal’s assets across the varied settings throughout the NBCUniversal Universal Studio Group (USG) and Universal Filmed Entertainment Group (UFEG) portfolios, such as production, offsite location, and office settings. Key to your success in achieving EHS goals will be your ability to build relationships with business leaders across portfolios and infusing a culture of environmental health and safety. This role will report to the Senior Vice President, Environmental Health and Safety.
Responsibilities:
Implement consistent application of NBCU’s enterprise-wide EHS policy, procedures, standards, strategies and goals in compliance with local, state and federal Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) or equivalent rules and regulations.Actively seek new and innovative ways to create and improve environmentally compliant work practices and standards to protect the safety of the company’s employees and assets.Coach, mentor and lead the business EHS teams and ensure training and development needs are met.Liaise with appropriate regulatory agencies and ensure NBCU’s regulatory compliance, as it applies to EHS, and serve as the primary contact on all EHS matters for productions.Develop safety programs and objectives, as well as coordinate and conduct training programs.Enhance and strengthen the safety performance and compliance of the EHS Program and the company through defined and measurable metrics, KPIs and analytics.In collaboration with the NBCUniversal Global Security Team, lead the investigation of accidents and injuries, ensure that accident investigations are conducted properly and communicate clear recommendations of action for eliminating future accidents.Build strong relationships with business leaders across the NBCU USG and UFEG portfolios to advise on EHS matters and highlight EHS priorities.Responsible for setting and managing both the budget and vendor contracts for EHS production needs.Provide OSHA or equivalent compliance guidance on processes, equipment, supplies and environmental matters.Recommend measures to protect workers from potentially hazardous work methods, processes or equipment.Liaise with external professional organizations to represent NBCU’s interests as needed.Qualifications
Required Qualifications:
Minimum 15 years of Environmental Health and Safety experience within a large corporation with a diverse portfolio of businesses and assets, such as studio production facilities, offsite locations, and office settings.Minimum 10 years of experience successfully leading a corporate Environmental Health and Safety team.Experience successfully navigating a highly matrixed environment with multiple leaders and stakeholders within multiple departments. Knowledge and understanding of local, state and federal Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) rules, regulations and procedure. Desired Characteristics:
Experience at a media/entertainment company a plus.Successful track record building consensus and influencing senior leadership and stakeholders to implement strategy and achieve results in times that can be fast paced, pressurized and of high volume.Proven ability to build and sustain excellent relationships, through clear and effective communication, with all levels of management across functions and divisions domestically and internationally. Proven ability to influence and engage direct and indirect reports, peers and external clients and vendors in a highly matrixed environment. Experience with financial analysis, building and presenting a business case and budget oversight.Excellent judgment and creative problem-solving skills, including negotiation and conflict resolution skills.Excellent verbal and written communication, presentation skills, time management and organizational skills.Successfully led and managed a team based globally and/or remotely.Proven ability to manage and maintain confidential information.Exceptionally strong multi-tasking skills and proven ability to handle competing priorities under tight deadlines with attention to detail.Bachelor’s degree preferred, advanced degree in safety management, industrial hygiene, occupational/environmental health, safety management or related field is a plus.Additional Information:
Required On-Site: This position is required to be performed full-time from an NBCUniversal-designated worksite.
