Job Description
IREN is seeking a Sustainability Program Manager in San Francisco, CA, to execute and coordinate its sustainability roadmap across various teams. The role requires 4-7 years of experience in program management or sustainability, strong organizational skills, and familiarity with sustainability topics and reporting frameworks. The manager will oversee emissions governance processes and support sustainability reporting efforts, ensuring alignment with IREN's commitment to responsible and sustainable operations.
IREN is a vertically integrated AI Cloud provider, delivering large-scale data centers and GPU clusters for AI training and inference. IREN’s platform is underpinned by its expansive portfolio of grid-connected land and power in renewable-rich regions across North America, Europe and APAC.
With 100% renewable energy, we build, own and operate our data centers and take pride in being at the forefront of sustainable solutions for the ever-evolving applications of high-performance compute. We believe that human progress is invaluable, but it should be done in the right way – responsibly, sustainably and having a positive impact on the communities we operate in.
The Sustainability Program Manager will help build and run IREN's Sustainability program by turning priorities into day-to-day execution across the business. Working closely with the Associate Director - Commercial, this role will drive execution of the sustainability roadmap, coordinate cross-functional delivery, and strengthen emissions, governance, and reporting processes (including evidence collection, draft coordination, customer requests, and required or voluntary disclosures).
Sustainability is increasingly important to customers, investors, operations, and commercial strategy in the data center and AI cloud services space.
Post secondary education in business, engineering, environmental studies, sustainability, economics, public policy, or a related field.
Typically 4 - 7 years of experience in program management, strategy and operations, sustainability, consulting, or a related cross-functional role.
Strong track record of turning priorities into action across multiple teams and keeping workstreams on track.
Comfortable working with data, coordinating inputs, and maintaining organized trackers and evidence for internal and external use.
Familiarity with core sustainability topics such as greenhouse gas emissions, renewable energy, water, waste, and disclosures; deep technical specialization is not required.
Familiarity with GHG Protocol, Scope 1/2/3, renewable energy certificates, and sustainability reporting frameworks a plus.
Experience preparing materials, status updates, and decision support for senior leaders.
Experience managing cross-functional programs with ownership across groups.
Exposure to reporting workflows and tools such as a reporting platform or similar systems is a plus.
Highly proficient in MS Office, specifically Word, Excel, PowerPoint, SharePoint, and Outlook.
Strong written and verbal communication skills and the ability to work effectively across functions, senior stakeholders, and time zones.
Strong research, problem-solving, organization, prioritization, and multitasking skills in a fast-moving environment.
Driving day-to-day execution of the sustainability roadmap and coordinating cross-functional work across Finance, Operations, Procurement, EHS, HR, Legal, Communications, and other business teams.
Supporting development of IREN's Scope 1 - 3 emissions inventory and sustainability governance processes by coordinating data collection, tracking actions, and maintaining organized supporting documentation.
Providing light support for sustainability reporting and the reporting platform in the interim, including draft coordination, evidence gathering, customer requests, and required and voluntary disclosures.
Monitoring new technologies, market developments, and peer practices across emissions, renewable energy, water, waste, and reporting, and sharing relevant updates and implications with key stakeholders.
