Job Description
Harper College is seeking a Sustainability Manager for Facilities Management in Palatine, IL. The role involves assessing inefficiencies in green initiatives, developing sustainability programs, and collaborating with various stakeholders to integrate sustainability into strategic planning and education. Responsibilities include managing budgets, leading outreach events, and monitoring greenhouse gas emissions. The position is full-time and does not require a specific degree.
Description Assess and analyze institutional inefficiencies related to green initiatives. Creatively develop, maintain, and enhance sustainability solutions and programs at Harper College. Develop training, educational programming, and marketing materials to advance the College’s Climate Leadership Commitments. Collaborate with senior administrators, staff, faculty, and students to incorporate sustainability values into strategic planning, resource management, curriculum, and extracurricular activities. Define goals, performance metrics, and long-range plans for sustainability. Evaluate program effectiveness, document trends, and recommend modifications to improve outcomes, including preparing sustainability reports to communicate progress. Develop and monitor the college’s Institutional Effectiveness Measures (IEM) for campus sustainability. Work with faculty to integrate sustainability projects into classrooms and facilitate student research projects that support the college’s carbon neutrality goals. Design and implement projects that promote employee engagement in sustainability initiatives. Manage sustainability programs and outreach events, advise student clubs, and oversee sustainability budgets and grants, including seeking additional funding opportunities. Lead participation in energy curtailment programs and serve as the college’s representative to energy reduction organizations. Conduct presentations to educate the college community and K-12 students about sustainability, building relationships with community partners. Develop and update sustainability indicators and data to track achievements and report performance regularly. Coordinate data collection and serve as the college’s representative to Sightlines for annual GHG reports. Monitor progress of GHG emission reductions mandated by the President’s Climate Commitment. Collaborate with campus departments to implement resource conservation policies. Represent Harper at the Chicagoland Network of Sustainability in Higher Education (CNSHE) and the Illinois Green Economy Network (IGEN). Chair the Sustainability Work Group and serve as a member of the campus Facilities Committee. Perform other related duties as assigned. #J-18808-Ljbffr
