Job Summary/Basic Function


The Student Sustainability Coordinator position is for a full-time WSU student who will work in the


Sustainability Practices and Research Center (SPARC), reporting to the director. The coordinator will assist with campus and community awareness and engagement, helping to coordinate community programs and events, and providing outreach to campus and community members. Duties will include connecting with students on campus to promote sustainability classes, events and activities, assisting with community programs, coordinating the Student Poster Contest at the Intermountain Sustainability Summit, assistance with office logistics, data entry for the sustainability (SUS) designator, and updating website content. Additionally, the coordinator will help with Sustainability Tracking and Rating Systems (STARS) reporting, and helping WSU reach STARS gold by 2025, and other data collection and reporting.




The Student Sustainability Coordinator will help to promote a culture of environmental sustainability throughout the University community and will act to facilitate advancement of the sustainability goals of the institution, as well as promoting environmental sustainability values and practices at WSU and among the wider community.






Required Qualifications


Education



Must be a current WSU student. A minimum GPA of 3.0 is required to apply. Student applicants may be majoring in a variety of fields, such as environmental studies/science, communications, education, marketing, business, geography, political science, etc.



Experience



Through volunteer activities or work, applicants must demonstrate that they can successfully manage a project or program from initiation to completion. Applicants must also demonstrate basic experience with or knowledge of environmental and sustainability-related issues. Successful completion of environmental/sustainability-related coursework can suffice for this requirement.



Skills:



Excellent communication skills, including but not limited to: advanced written and oral communication skills
Excellent interpersonal skills
Ability to carry out projects or programs from initiation to completion
Self-motivated and organized
Team player







Preferred Qualifications


Completion of 12 or more credit hours at WSU
Self-motivated and organized
Able to work collaboratively and professionally with a variety of people
Computer/technical skills including Microsoft Office, and Google Docs, and one or more of the following: Adobe Illustrator, Adobe Photoshop, Adobe Premiere Pro, Adobe Acrobat, and Adobe InDesign.
Familiarity with social media and the use of social media for outreach/education purposes
Majoring, minoring, or have an emphasis in an environmentally or sustainability-related field OR have demonstrated knowledge/experience in the environmental or sustainability-related field
Familiarity with the general organizational structure of WSU
A valid U.S. Driver’s License
