Job Description

Weber State University is hiring a Student Sustainability Communications Coordinator to support sustainability efforts on campus and in the community. The role involves managing websites, social media, and newsletters, as well as collaborating on outreach projects. This part-time position (15-20 hours/week) is open to WSU students and is based on the Ogden, UT campus. The hourly pay rate is $13.50.

Job Summary/Basic Function


The Student Sustainability Coordinator position is for a full-timeWSUstudent who will work in the


Sustainability Practices and Research Center (SPARC), reporting to the Sustainability Programs and


Engagement Manager. The Student Sustainability Communications Coordinator will serve as the


communications/outreach coordinator for Weber State University’s sustainability efforts on campus, and in the larger community. The chosen candidate will be responsible for maintaining sustainability websites, social media accounts, and the events calendar. She/he/they will collaborate to develop the sustainability newsletter and flyers, brochures, display materials, etc., as needed by the sustainability staff. She/he/they will also be responsible for maintaining the sustainability email listserv, sending out mass email communications, and working on a variety of larger outreach projects such as promoting the Intermountain Sustainability Summit She/he/they will be working extensively with an internal team, as well as with external partners to develop materials. Additionally, this position will occasionally be responsible for data collection and assisting with reporting.




This position is housed in the Sustainability Practices & Research Center (SPARC),but will involve communications and marketing for sustainability at Weber State more broadly, promoting events and initiatives that may come from theSPARC, the faculty Environmental Initiatives Committee (EIC) and/or the Energy & Sustainability Office (Facilities Management Department).






Required Qualifications



o Must be a current, full-time WSU student. A minimum GPA of 2.5


o Excellent communication experience, including but not limited to: technical writing, computer skills, and oral communication.


o Proficient user of social media (Facebook, Instagram, LinkedIn)


o Excellent interpersonal skills, and team player







Preferred Qualifications



o Self-motivated and organized


o Communications major, minor or course work/experience in a related field


o Proficient user of website content management systems (i.e., Site Manager)


o Interest in sustainability, including coursework, volunteer, or job experience


o Completed 12 or more WSU credit hours
