Solar Design Engineer

EnergeiaWorks is hiring a Commercial Solar Design Engineer in Columbia, MD. The role involves designing and developing photovoltaic systems, producing construction drawings, conducting site assessments, and performing energy modeling. Candidates should have a degree in Electrical Engineering or equivalent experience, knowledge of construction codes, and proficiency in AutoCAD and PV simulation software. The position requires strong organizational skills and at least two years of PV design experience.
We are seeking a detail-oriented Commercial Solar Design Engineer to support the design and development of commercial and industrial (C&I) photovoltaic systems. In this role, you will produce construction and permitting drawing packages, conduct site feasibility assessments, and perform energy production modeling contributing to projects from early concept through installation.

Responsibilities

Provide design assistance in creating commercial PV system interconnection, permitting, and construction drawings using AutoCAD (i.e., site plans, single- or three-line diagrams, elevation drawings, detail drawings)Assist in site feasibility studies and site surveying for PV layoutsPerform simulations of solar energy production and analyze PV system performanceAssist in creating and compiling information for sales proposalsCreate bills of materials for project installations and review quotes for equipment purchasing for accuracyOther design tasks assigned by Engineering Manager.Requirements

Associate/Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical Engineering or equivalent experience in the solar industryIntermediate knowledge of construction codes and standards (i.e., NEC, NFPA 1)Experience with AutoCADExperience with PV simulation software PVsyst, HelioscopeProficiency in MS OfficeStrong attention-to-detail and excellent organizational skillsAbility to work in a team environment as well as independentlyTwo years or more PV design experience especially in C&I
