PURPOSE OF THE ROLE / FUNCTIONAL CONTEXT:
The Safety Officer is responsible for overseeing and ensuring the safety, health, and environmental compliance within the workplace. This role involves enforcing safety policies, conducting inspections, training employees, and implementing effective safety programs to minimize risk, accidents, and environmental impact. The Safety Officer plays a crucial role in ensuring compliance with local, state, and federal regulations related to occupational health and safety & environmental.
JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:
• Ensure safety First – always.
• Assist in developing, implementing, and maintaining safety policies, procedures, and programs.
• Conduct regular audits and inspections to ensure compliance with EHS regulations.
• Identify potential hazards and recommend corrective measures.
• Ensure that the company adheres to safety regulations, and local safety & environmental laws.
• Maintain up-to-date knowledge of EHS (Legal) regulations and standards.
• Monitoring monthly environmental performance as per the Consent and records management.
• Prepare reports and documentation required for regulatory inspections and compliance.
• Submission of Monthly, Quarterly, Half-Yearly & annual reports to the Local regulating bodies (Like: Inspector of factories, TSPCB & etc.) and maintaining the records.
• Conduct regular safety training programs for employees, including new hire orientation, emergency procedures, and specialized safety protocols.
• Promote a safety-conscious culture by providing ongoing education and awareness programs for all levels of employees.
• Encourage employees and train them to report the incident, accident, risk observation and Near miss on time.
• Analyze, Coordinate with CFT members and Investigate accidents, injuries, and near-misses to determine root causes and in developing the corrective action plans.
• Maintain accurate records of incidents and safety-related data, including reports and incident logs.
• Recommend improvements to minimize risks and prevent recurrence.
• Perform regular safety inspections of the workplace, including equipment, machinery, workspaces, and storage areas.
• Schedule, conducting and coordinating the Safety Observation tours (SOT).
• Ensure compliance with personal protective equipment (PPE) requirements and usage.
• Identify and address unsafe conditions and practices, providing corrective actions where necessary.
• Coordinate emergency preparedness activities, including evacuation drills, fire drills, and other emergency response actions.
• Develop and update emergency response plans and procedures.
• Maintain safety equipment, such as first-aid kits, fire extinguishers, and spill kit materials.
• Collect data and prepare Monthly / Quarterly reporting for sustainability.
• Assist in environmental impact assessments and promote sustainability initiatives.
• Ensure waste management and hazardous materials handling practices are following environmental regulations.
• Review and regular update about IMS documentation related SHE.
• Maintain accurate safety records, reports, and documentation to ensure legal compliance and facilitate audits.
• Provide regular safety reports to management, highlighting trends, potential hazards, and safety performance.
THE IDEAL CANDIDATE:
Qualification and Experience: Bachelor’s degree in environmental, Occupational Health and Safety, or Engineering, with related field Experience is preferred.
Relevant certifications, such as Certified Safety Professional or Occupational Health and Safety. Certified Lead Auditor Certification for ISO 9001, 14001, 45001 will be an added advantage.
8 to 10 years of experience in an EHS or safety officer role, preferably in Manufacturing industry.
Experience in conducting safety audits and inspections. Familiarity with OSH and local safety regulations
Knowledge:
• Thorough Knowledge of SHE
• Minium knowledge of Manufacturing process like Machining, Heat Treatment, and Assembly activities.
• Knowledge of Audit procedures & relevant standards of ISO9001:2015, ISO14001:2015, ISO45001:2015.

• Undertaking periodic training in safe work practices, system requirements to operating colleague and, where necessary, re-training.
