Residential System Designer

Permanent, Full-time

$55,000-$65,000/year

Shift Energy Group is seeking a Residential System Designer to join our Design team in Victoria, BC. This role is pivotal in developing solar design layouts and proposal packages for residential PV solar installations and working across the organization with sales, project management, and installation teams to ensure clients' needs are met.

The Residential System Designer will design and develop proposals, site plans and drawings for solar PV projects, considering geography, physical layouts, solar racking type, solar panel and inverter type, service size, electrical design, project constraints, project goals, and relevant codes.

Job Responsibilities:
• Designing Solar PV systems, including Energy Storage
• Creating Proposals / Estimates for potential clients
• Creating layout diagrams for various installations
• Drafting electrical design drawings, including single line diagrams
• Drafting Permit Packages, including Site Plan, Roof Plan and Elevation drawings
• Preparing lamicoid packages
• Generating bill of material documents
• Faciliating Change Orders
• Working collaboratively with Sales, Projects and Installation teams to accomplish objectives
• All other duties as assigned

Assets (preferred but not required):
• Post-secondary degree or technical diploma from and accredited institution
• Preferred Education: Electrical Engineering, Alternative Energy Technology, Energy Systems
• Engineering Technology, Sustainable Energy Management
• Relevant internships or co-op experiences
• A professional diploma or certificate in Solar Design or Electrical Design
• Working knowledge of the Canadian Electrical Code

Requirements:
• Proficient knowledge and experience with Solar PV systems
• Capable of working autonomously with minimal supervision
• Deeply passionate about solar energy and sustainability
• Eager to continually learn, grow and hold oneself accountable
• Demonstrates exceptional work ethic and proactively tackles new challenges
• Proven ability to collaborate effectively across deparments
• Diligent attention to detail and strong organizational skills
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills in English
• Proficiency in navigating computer software including AutoCAD, MS Excel, Word, etc.
• Proficiency with CAD drafting program(s)
