Job Description

Edf Renewable Energy is seeking a Renewable Energy Solar Technician 2 in San Diego, CA. This role involves unsupervised maintenance and troubleshooting of solar generators, leading maintenance crews, and ensuring safety compliance at utility-scale photovoltaic plants. About the position

The Renewable Energy Solar Technician 2 is responsible for performing unsupervised field maintenance, troubleshooting, and general resets on solar generators and their components. This advanced technician role requires adherence to safety guidelines, the ability to lead maintenance crews, and provide training to junior technicians. The position involves working on utility-scale photovoltaic power plants and energy storage systems, ensuring compliance with project specifications and safety regulations.

Responsibilities
• Complete unsupervised preventative/unscheduled maintenances on utility-scale photovoltaic power plants and storage systems in a timely manner.

• Inspect solar modules and use testing equipment such as IR camera, IV curve tracer, multimeter, amp clamps, inclinometers, and electrical megohmmeter.
,
• Accurately complete maintenance logs, work orders, time cards, service reports, and any other required paperwork or computer work for the specific project/assignment.
,
• Safely perform OEM testing, troubleshooting, repairs, and upgrades/revisions to a broad range of equipment in the renewable industry.
,
• Monitor systems and components of large PV power plants and energy storage systems, performing resets as needed on faulted equipment.
,
• Conduct site safety assessments, identify safety hazards, follow safety regulations, lead daily safety meetings, and complete required safety documentation.
,
• Recommission PV systems, including insulation testing, IV curve testing, thermal imagery, torque testing, and performance evaluations.
,
• Review project plans, specifications, and installation instructions to ensure compliance with approved designs and specifications.
,
• Participate in 24/7 on-call rotation.
,
• Oversee contractors and sub-contractors to support site(s) when necessary.

Requirements
• Two (2) + years of electrical experience with successful completion of the advanced solar technician training course.
,
• Good verbal and written communication skills.
,
• Ability to work independently and demonstrate basic computer knowledge.
,
• High School diploma or equivalent; or up to two years of related experience or training; or a combination of education and experience.

• Mastery of an Advanced Solar Technician Level training program.
,
• Knowledge of electrical code and OSHA regulations.
,
• Competence in solar inverters and knowledge of DC - AC generation theory.
,
• Ability to read and interpret basic schematics and technical data.

Nice-to-haves
• Knowledgeable in all Microsoft Suite applications; Word, Excel, Outlook, and Teams.

• Skilled in the use of electrical test instruments for checking voltage and resistance measurements on de-energized circuits.

• Understanding of fastener types and techniques.
