Job Description

Matura Farrington Staffing Services is seeking a Public Agency & Environmental Law Attorney with 2-6 years of experience, focusing on water-related issues. The role involves advising clients on compliance with environmental laws, drafting legal documents, representing clients in litigation, and assisting in infrastructure projects. Candidates should have knowledge of relevant laws and a JD with California Bar membership. The position is full-time and based in Los Angeles, CA.
We are seeking a Public Agency Environmental Law Attorney with 2–6 years of experience handling public agency and environmental matters, particularly water-related issues. This role offers the opportunity to work on a diverse range of legal matters for both public and private clients, with a focus on transactions, advice and counsel, and litigation.



The ideal candidate will bring prior experience representing government agencies, municipalities, or special districts and will be comfortable managing projects that involve complex regulatory frameworks and infrastructure considerations. Candidates with backgrounds in communications, public policy, or government work are strongly encouraged to apply.



Key Responsibilities



Advise public agency and private clients on compliance with state and federal environmental laws, with emphasis on water-related matters.




Draft, review, and negotiate contracts, ordinances, resolutions, and other legal documents.




Represent clients in litigation, administrative hearings, and negotiations.




Assist in the development of infrastructure, procurement, and construction projects, including prevailing wage and public finance considerations.




Counsel clients on government procurement processes, eminent domain, and real estate matters.




Provide legislative and regulatory analysis, including drafting and interpreting legislative language.





Preferred Experience



Knowledge and application of the Brown Act, Clean Water Act, CEQA, water rights, and the Government Claims Act.




Experience with infrastructure development, government procurement, public finance, and construction law.




Familiarity with eminent domain, legislative drafting, and environmental compliance for public agencies.





Qualifications



Juris Doctor (JD) and active membership in the California Bar.




2–6 years of relevant legal experience in public agency or environmental law.




Strong analytical, research, and writing skills.




Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a team-oriented environment.
