Job Description

Climate17 is seeking a Project Developer for Community Solar in Washington, DC, focusing on developing solar and storage projects. Position: Project Developer - MD & PALocation: Washington DC - hybrid working availableTravel: Some regional travel required


Your Opportunity:

This is an opportunity to take ownership of project development across key growth markets, leading projects from origination through to execution. You will play a central role in building a high-quality pipeline, working closely with senior leadership to drive delivery and optimise project value. The position suits someone who enjoys a fast-paced environment and is motivated to have a visible impact on business growth.




Key Responsibilities:

Originate, assess, and secure new project opportunities (greenfield and M&A)Lead development activities including interconnection, permitting, and offtakeOptimise project design and economics to maximise portfolio valueDevelop and manage project budgets in collaboration with leadershipBuild and maintain relationships with landowners, utilities, and local stakeholdersEngage external consultants to support project delivery and pipeline growthIdentify and mitigate project risks throughout the development lifecycle


What You Bring:

Bachelor’s degree required; relevant Master’s degree advantageous3–6 years’ experience in clean energy project developmentBackground in distributed generation and/or C&I solar and storage preferredStrong financial and commercial acumen, including project modellingProven ability to manage complex development projectsExcellent communication skills and stakeholder engagement experienceSelf-motivated with strong attention to detail and accountability
