Job Description
The City and County of Denver is hiring a Marketing and Communications Specialist for Denver Arts & Venues. This full-time position offers a salary between $90,000 and $100,000, with benefits including retirement plans and generous PTO. The role involves developing marketing strategies for arts programs and requires in-office work at least three days a week, allowing for remote work up to two days weekly.

What We Offer
This is a full-time, salaried position. The City and County of Denver offers a competitive salary commensurate with education and experience. The lifetime pay range for this position is $82,540 - $136,191. The starting salary range for this position falls within: $90,000 - $100,000. • Location
Denver Arts & Venues supports a hybrid workplace model. Employees work in an office several days a week and off-site as needed. Employees must work within the state of Colorado on their off-site days.
In this position you can expect to work:
• On-site at the DAV offices located in downtown Denver a minimum of three days per week.
• Hybrid model allows for remote work for a maximum of two days per week.

Denver Arts & Venues (DAV) is the City and County of Denver agency responsible for operating some of the region’s most renowned facilities, including Red Rocks Amphitheatre, Denver Performing Arts Complex, Colorado Convention Center, Denver Coliseum, McNichols Civic Center Building and Theatre at Loretto Heights. We also oversee the Denver Public Art Program, funding opportunities like Urban Arts Fund, P.S. You Are Here and EDI Arts & Culture Fund, implementation of Denver’s Cultural Plan and other entertainment and cultural events such as the Five Points Jazz Festival and Sunset Cinema.
Funds generated by the agency are invested back into the community through grants for artists and arts organizations, free and low-cost cultural events, art in public spaces, venue operation and maintenance and arts education. What You’ll Do
Denver Arts & Venues is seeking a Marketing and Communications Specialist with 3+ years of experience in arts and cultural marketing. This role will lead marketing initiatives to promote a wide range of arts and cultural programs, events, activities, and opportunities managed by DAV.
The position involves overseeing marketing efforts for arts-related venues, including the Denver Performing Arts Complex, McNichols Civic Center Building, and Theatre at Loretto Heights, as well as Denver’s Public Art Program, agency grants, funding opportunities and programs supporting local artists.
Specifically, as the Marketing and Communications Specialist, you will:
• Develop strategic marketing plans for arts, venues and cultural programs which consist of: marketing campaigns, event promotion, ticket sales, awareness of grants and artist opportunities, creating content across cultural events and programs, media planning, brand positioning, strategic thinking and program communications.
• Construct and implement marketing campaigns and programs aimed to highlight our agency’s “Good Times, For Good” model and the impact generated across Denver communities. This will involve managing timelines and budget, coordinating with internal teammates and partners, collaborating with external agency partners and other community organizations.
• Lead event promotion by monitoring sales data and using the marketing mix to provide strategic ideas to increase ticket sales while collaborating with event promoters, partner organizations and team members.
• Develop budgets for marketing, sales and advertising programs while reviewing and approving allocations and expenditures.
• Build and execute media strategy. Lead media planning, research and negotiate rates, conduct media buys with media outlets and vendors across our portfolio of brands and audiences.
• Create original content and storytelling: concept ideas, deploy messaging and storytelling through digital channels including email, website, social media, video and on-site platforms. Pitch local and regional publications for coverage highlighting our agency’s impact throughout Denver.
• Manage social media: Develop and grow social accounts through engaging content. Publish, post and schedule content across multiple platforms, including Instagram, Facebook, Twitter/X, TikTok and YouTube. Monitor social and digital marketing industry trends and adapt our platforms accordingly.
• Manage email campaigns, including the creation and deployment of various cultural newsletters and event know-before-you-go emails.
• Manage website updates across multiple brands in WordPress and other CMS platforms.
• Develop and maintain strong brand positioning: Own, maintain and guide branding efforts including identity, voice, graphics and audience development.

Our ideal candidate has the following:
• Bilingual proficiency with English and Spanish languages is preferred
• Prior experience in arts marketing: Preference will be given to candidates with experience in cultural events and activities, artist programming and opportunities, marketing arts-related venues, and collaborating with arts organizations
• Prior experience with event ticketing and coordination with event promoters is preferred
• Exceptional skills and knowledge of digital strategy, social media and content best practices (also managing websites, email, social media)
• Demonstrated ability to develop strategy and effectively communicate informed insights to diverse colleagues and agency partners.
• Comfort with reviewing data analytics and using it to drive decisions and communication
• Exceptional interpersonal and relationship-building skills to work cross-functionally with team members at all levels of an organization
• Ability to overcome barriers and meet goals with creative problem-solving skills, especially in a fast-paced environment
• Strong organization and project management skills to effectively manage multiple projects simultaneously and deliver them on time and on budget
• Self-starter with the ability and drive to work autonomously
• Required Minimum Qualifications
• Education Requirement: Bachelor's Degree in Business Administration, Marketing, Communications or a related field.
• Experience Requirement: Four (4) years of full performance, professional level experience performing marketing and/or public relations functions including research and analysis, developing public announcements and publications, and developing marketing and/or public relations strategies.
• Education/Experience Equivalency: One (1) year of the appropriate type and level of experience may be substituted for each required year of post-high school education.
