Job Description
University College London is hiring a full-time Lecturer in Urban Sustainability & Climate Change. About the role
The School is seeking to appoint one Lecturer (Grade 8) in Urban Sustainability & Climate Change to strengthen its capacity in engaging with existing and emerging priorities and challenges facing cities in the UK and globally. We welcome applications from urban planning experts, with a clear track record of research in the fields of urban sustainability, climate change in cities and the infrastructure systems through which these challenges are mediated.
The post is a full-time Grade 8, permanent position starting on 01 September 2026. Interviews will take place on Friday 01 May.

About you
Essential:
• Awarded PhD in the field of planning, urban studies, or a related discipline.
• Teaching and research specialism in the field of urban sustainability, climate change and sustainable infrastructure projects and development.
• Publication in peer-reviewed journals (at a level commensurate with grade of appointment) – the post-holder must be returnable to REF irrespective of starting grade.
• Demonstrable international research portfolio
• Experience in the leadership of taught modules;
• Demonstrable independent research agenda – at a level judged to be commensurate with grade
• External research grants awarded – at a level judged to be commensurate with grade
