The Lead Market Analyst role is a highly technical LEAD position that will drive transmission zonal and nodal production cost modeling efforts to support the commercial strategy of utility-scale renewable energy projects across all ISO / RTO markets in the United States.
Leadership responsibilities also include mentoring junior staff.

RESPONSIBILITIES:


The Lead Power Market Analyst / Principal Transmission Analyst develops production cost models and analysis of transmission renewable industry patterns in AURORA, PLEXOS, PROMOD, GRIDVIEW, or UPLAN to predict short/long term electricity prices and drive greenfield renewables project development siting initiatives The Lead Power Market Analyst / Principal Transmission Analyst performs optimization modeling to forecast congestion, assess congestion drivers, and assist in locational marginal pricing (LMP) assessments The Lead Power Market Analyst / Principal Transmission Analyst advises on zonal & nodal analysis to enhance the company's market platform The Lead Power Market Analyst / Principal Transmission Analyst selects trading nodes based on market congestion patterns & bid curve analysis The Lead Power Market Analyst / Principal Transmission Analyst facilitates transmission topology comparisons and updates The Lead Power Market Analyst / Principal Transmission Analyst develops data visualization dashboards in PowerBI and queries in SQL to streamline processes QUALIFICATIONS:


5-10+ Years transmission power market experience focused on production cost modeling, economic planning, or transmission market operations experience in Technical Leadership or Principal role AURORA power market modelling experience is ideal but similar programs like PROMOD, PLEXOS, GridView, and UPLAN will also be considered Must have experience with various types of analysis - capacity prices, regional energy pricing, congestion and curtailment analysis, transmission constraints, interconnection assessments, LMPs, and/or regional supply and demand curves Data Visualization experience in tools like PowerBI are HUGE PLUS Hands-on experience or solid understanding of transmission topology Must have an understanding of national energy markets and renewable energy portfolios (PJM, ERCOT, SPP, MISO, NYISO, ISO-NE, and CAISO) Experience and strong automation skills in Excel, VBA, SQL, Python, MATLAB Any battery storage or large scale renewable energy (solar, wind, hydrogen) experience is a HUGE PLUS
