Job Description

The Student Conservation Association is hiring for an Individual Placement in Invasive Species Management in College Park, GA. The role involves a team of four managing invasive species on state lands in West Central Georgia, focusing on mapping, treating, and controlling high-priority invasive plants. The position runs from May 18 to August 15, 2026, requires outdoor work in extreme conditions, and offers housing and a weekly allowance.
Position Summary


This position will be part of a 4 SCA member team managing invasive species in West Central Georgia. One member will be a team lead. This work will focus on managing high priority invasive plants. A special emphasis will be given to managing invasive species on state lands. The Georgia DNR will provide tools such as chainsaws, brush cutters, hand tools, ATV/UTVs, various herbicides and other supplies needed to conduct invasive species management work. The work will entail traveling to several managed state lands in southwest Georgia, allow the crew to explore many of the unique natural communities found in our state.

Ability to work in extreme conditions; Plant identification; invasive species identification;



Preferred Qualifications


invasive species control work; chainsaw experience; GIS experience; herbicide application experience; UTV experience;



Hours


40 per week



Living Accommodations


Housing is provided in a cabin on state property. Some shared bedrooms and shared common areas. All necessary kitchen supplies, pots, plates, cutlery, etc. are provided. Beds are twin and the team member will need to provide their own linens.



Compensation


Weekly allowance is $560; Travel allowance is $825


All allowances are subject to applicable federal, state, and local taxes.
