Job Description
ECS Ltd is seeking an Environmental Senior Project Manager in Birmingham, AL, responsible for leading environmental consulting projects from proposal to closeout. Key duties include client management, staff mentorship, project oversight, and financial accountability. The role requires a bachelor's or master's degree in a relevant field, along with 5 years of experience. Strong leadership, project management, and client relationship skills are essential.
Responsibilities
The Environmental Senior Project Manager is responsible for the successful execution of environmental consulting projects from proposal development through project closeout and collection. This role provides technical leadership, project oversight, client management, staff development, and financial accountability across multiple projects. The Environmental Senior Project Manager serves as the primary client contact on assigned projects, mentors technical staff, and ensures projects are delivered safely, profitably, and in accordance with company standards while demonstrating ECS Core Values.
Responsibilities
Leads and mentors junior staff and supports professional development across the teamManages environmental consulting projects from proposal through project closeoutServes as the primary client contact for assigned projectsMaintains and expands client relationships and business opportunitiesManages project budgets, profitability, invoicing, and collectionsReviews and approves project change orders and budgeting adjustmentsSchedules, trains, and oversees technical staff assigned to projectsCoordinates project staffing and resource allocationOversees multiple projects simultaneously and ensures successful project executionReviews and approves proposals, scopes of work, and fee estimatesPrepares and reviews environmental reports, analyses, and recommendationsConducts senior-level reviews of project deliverables before Principal reviewLeads client meetings and project discussionsSupports staffing decisions in collaboration with department leadershipProvides guidance on technical, operational, and project management issuesPerforms additional project leadership and technical duties as assignedPerforms Phase I Environmental Site Assessments independently as an Environmental ProfessionalReviews Phase I ESA reports prepared by junior staffOversees project scheduling, execution, reporting, and closeoutCommunicates project findings and recommendations to clients and PrincipalsPerforms detailed technical reviews of reports and conclusions#LI-CS1
Qualifications
Required Qualifications
5 years of related experienceBachelor's and/or Master's of Science in Civil Engineering, Environmental Engineering, Natural or Environmental Science, Geology, or other degree relevant to the practice of Environmental ConsultingMust have the ability to obtain a local license through reciprocity within three months of hire dateAdditional licensure or certifications may be required depending on the type of work performedExtensive knowledge of environmental principles, regulations, and consulting practicesExtensive knowledge of permitting requirements and environmental investigation methodologiesExcellent project management and consulting skillsStrong leadership, coaching, and team development capabilitiesStrong financial management and budgeting skillsAbility to manage multiple complex projects simultaneouslyAbility to build and maintain long-term client relationshipsStrong written and verbal communication skillsAbility to review and evaluate technical work produced by othersStrong business development and client growth capabilitiesIf driving for or on behalf of any ECS subsidiary, a valid driver's license is requiredMilitary Qualifications
