The position plays a lead role in the planning and advancement of climate resilience initiatives with a strong focus on adaptation within the urban environment. The successful candidate will serve as a member of a multi‑disciplinary team to further county‑wide resilience planning and investments, including support for risk assessments and review of projects for consistency with the County's Resilience Plan. Activities include contributions to a wide range of projects, plans, and proposals, including comprehensive planning, land‑use considerations, water management and redevelopment strategies, and the co‑benefits of green infrastructure projects. Responsibilities also include staffing support for various boards and committees. Efforts require coordination, interpretation, and application of technical information to help inform decision‑making furthering the County's climate resilience priorities.General DescriptionThis position plays a lead role in the furtherance of the county's climate resilience efforts with responsibilities that include project management, stakeholder engagement, and technical assessments. The preferred candidate will have a good grasp on the interplay between sea‑level rise projections, regional hydrology and stormwater management, green infrastructure, and the urban landscape. Candidates with knowledge and insights as to how resilience relates to community projects, infrastructure enhancements, technology innovations, and urban design are encouraged. Responsibilities include project and budget management, collaboration with community and agency partners, and participation in efforts of the Southeast Florida Regional Climate Change Compact. The preferred candidate will have an affinity for public policy and planning, demonstrated strong research skills, and experience in processing and interpreting data. The position requires excellent communication skills, both orally and in writing. Candidates should be highly motivated, willing to take initiative, and enjoy a dynamic team environment. Experience with GIS, Excel, PowerPoint, and social media is preferred. Work is reviewed through regular meetings, reports, and assignments.
