Job Description
The Environmental Health Safety Specialist at Força Aérea Recrutamento in Owerri, Nigeria is a full-time, on-site position. Role Description The Environmental Health Safety Specialist is a full-time, on-site role based in Owerri Municipal. This role is responsible for developing, implementing, and monitoring EHS policies and procedures to ensure a safe and compliant workplace.
Day-to-day tasks include conducting risk assessments, inspections, and audits; identifying hazards; and recommending corrective actions. The specialist will deliver safety training, maintain incident and compliance records, and support investigations of accidents or near misses. The role also involves collaborating with operations teams to integrate EHS best practices into daily activities, staying current with relevant regulations and standards, and preparing reports for management and regulatory agencies.
Qualifications
Strong foundation in Health & Safety and Workplace Safety, with the ability to apply best practices in an industrial or energy-related environment.
Knowledge of Occupational Health and Environment Health and Safety (EHS), including relevant laws, standards, and regulatory requirements.
Experience delivering Safety Training and promoting a safety-first culture across different levels of the organization.
Bachelor’s degree in Environmental Science, Occupational Health and Safety, Engineering, or a related field (or equivalent professional experience).
Relevant professional certifications in EHS or safety management are an advantage.
Strong analytical, reporting, and problem-solving skills, with attention to detail in inspections and documentation.
Effective communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to influence and collaborate with cross-functional teams.
Proven ability to work on-site in a dynamic environment, manage multiple priorities, and respond quickly to safety and environmental issues.
