About the Role

The Corporate EH & S Specialist will be the Company’s champion for all environmental and safety initiatives, including but not limited to: ensuring compliance with all local, state and federal regulations and standards, promoting a proactive environmental culture, and locally administering a continuous improvement-based environmental management system as well as promote and support all safety continuous improvement programs, initiates, and trainings. This position is responsible for both Rhode Island plants (Pawtucket & Cranston) with interaction with our South Carolina plant. Some travel may be required.

Responsibilities

Support the compliance of all government agencies and related regulation reports. Programs include but not limited to the Emergency Response, OSHA required training, RIDEM, EPA, DOT, NFPA, DLT.Tracking weekly recycling and waste records, maintain an accurate and complete data base, and provide monthly reporting on all related matters.Support and maintain the ISO 14001 Environmental Management System Certification and sustainability objectives.Conduct compliance audits and assist in preparing written policies and procedures.Facilitate and manage the RTK policies and procedures and ensure the upkeep of all MSDS throughout the organization.Assist in the implementation of a facility-wide Lock-out Tag-out (LOTO) program in which everyone is an authorized associate.Develop and Implement Safety Policies: Create, update, and enforce safety policies and procedures to ensure compliance with local, state, and federal regulations.Develop, coordinate, and/or conduct health and safety audits and programs.Drive administrative controls and engineering controls to eliminate hazards in the facility to create a zero incident workplace.Participate or lead internal Incident Investigations to find continuous improvement opportunities either in work practices or work conditions with the use of solid root cause analysis.Work with shift safety teams to provide support for all safety related issues.Promote a culture of Behavior Based Safety and the continuous improvement of the process; active member of safety committees.Teach and/or coordinate mandatory and other safety training and maintain training records.Maintain the Noise and Silica Control Plans including the Respiratory Protection Program.Assist in conducting Industrial Hygiene Monitoring to identify and evaluate safety and health risks and compliance exposure.Identify areas of improvement and opportunities to mitigate or eliminate risks.Assist in Ensuring timeliness and accuracy of OSHA and EPA recordkeeping and reporting, including OSHA 300 log reporting and other federal and state reports.Write and edit environmental SOPs as directed.Enter requisitions for supplies and review and approve invoices for services.Qualifications

Proficient knowledge of ISO 14001 Environmental Management Systems required. Preference to having previously implemented a management system in an industrial setting.Experience: 5 to 10 years in a manufacturing environment.Education: Any combination of training, education, and experience equivalent to graduation from an accredited college or university with a Bachelor’s Degree; Preferred disciplines in Safety or Environmental Science.Highly skilled at using Microsoft Office software (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc.).Effective communication skills; ability to interact with personnel at all levels of the organization with confidence, respect, and integrity. #J-18808-Ljbffr
