EHS Coordinator Job Description

In this role, the individual will be responsible for the development, communication, implementation, training, and evaluation of Environmental Health and Safety Programs at the St. Louis facility.

Responsibilties

Coordinates the day-to-day implementation of the site safety and industrial hygiene policies and proceduresAssure compliance with applicable DOT, OSHA, and EPA regulationsDevelops and conducts periodic safety audits / assessments to evaluate compliance to regulations and facility safety policies & procedures. Documents assessment findings, assists production management in resolving discrepanciesPerforms ergonomic evaluations and assists in implementation of process improvementsAssures contractor compliance with applicable safety and environmental policiesParticipates with teams to design new and existing processes with hazard minimization and waste reduction as primary objectiveUpdates and maintains action items within Safety and Environmental Profession databaseResponsible for development of safety training materials. Delivers training content as necessaryPerforms risk assessments and process evaluations to determine the need for engineering controls and/or administrative controls. Coordinates implementation of process controls as related to safety/environmental issuesDrive pollution prevention and sustainability programsDevelops and maintains plant safety committees and safety teamsLead incident investigation team, evaluate risks and incidents, and identify areas where costs and loss experience can be improved.Manage worker’s compensation claims and coordinate employee health activitiesPerform waste audits and coordinate shipment of regulated wasteMonitor compliance with wastewater permits including coordinating wastewater sampling and data trackingTrack metrics, prepare and submit monthly reports. Prepare plant communications including weekly safety topicsResponsible for collecting, preparing and transferring many types of chemicals and other hazardous materials.Review materials used by manufacturing operations and maintain Safety Data Sheet databaseResponsible for conducting weekly safety inspections such as Hazardous Waste areas.Evaluation and implementation of Personal Protective EquipmentPerform Job Safety AnalysisAid in the timely preparation of required reports to regulatory agencies as requestedDevelop and implement procedures/SOPs to reduce safety/environmental risks and to address emergency situationsDevelop and provide EHS related training programs on various EHS topics including Lab Safety, Respirator Program, PPE. Hearing Conservation, First Aid/CPR, LOTO, Chemical Hygiene, and Hazardous CommunicationMaintain Sustainability Report and recordsCollaborate with management to further the objectives of health and safety programsFacilitate and manage employee-based Safety CommitteeCoordinate annual EHS training matrixCoordinate and develop training & drills for Emergency Evacuation requirementsServe an active role in the incident investigation process and root cause analysisOther tasks as deemed necessary

Requirements

Minimum of 1- 2 years of experience in a manufacturing or laboratory setting.Familiar with EHS programs and regulatory requirements.Bachelor’s Degree or higherOSHA 10 hour course completion or within 60 days of employmentKnowledge of OSHA standards, including Injury record keeping.Computer literate on PC and related software.Effective interpersonal skills, written and oral communication skills.Effective analytical, technical, and problem solving skills.Effective presentation and meeting skills.Effective leadership and goal setting skills.Ability to use analytical and critical thinking skills
