As an Engineer in Flood Risk Management, you'll thrive on the diverse and challenging workload which flooding represents, both now and into the future as the impacts of climate change become apparent.
It's not just about building flood defences. It is about seeking innovative and sustainable solutions as part of development proposals to mimic natural processes and reduce flood risk. Schemes you could support might include creation of embankments and new reservoirs but could also mean delivering Natural Flood Management (NFM) schemes and blue/green infrastructure schemes as we seek innovative solutions to develop integrated water‑management catchment schemes.
Over the past five years the annual FRM capital programme value has developed a number of award‑winning schemes in Leeds at Otley, Killingbeck and Mickletown. Job Purpose
To work as a member of the Flood Risk Management Team engaged in all works to reduce flood risk in Leeds, also to engage in the delivery, inspection, operation and maintenance of flood risk management assets, undertake activities as required and supervise the work of other staff within the team.
Responsibilities
Principal Responsibilities

Support and contribute towards reducing the risk of flooding in Leeds by ensuring that all stages of the development, delivery, operation and maintenance of works and assets are properly utilised in the management of flood risk.
Maintain and develop flood risk management systems and Leeds' Flood Risk Asset Register.
Be motivated to achieve Corporate Plan, Service Plan and Divisional Plan objectives.
Promote and deliver positive solutions to achieving diversity and equality in all aspects of service delivery, community engagement areas, focusing on equality of outcome.
Provide technical support to the processes and procedures operated within the team.
Work towards achieving a good level of technical competence.
Assist the wider team in the management and supervision of junior members of staff and the supply chain.
