Overview
As an Ecological Project Scientist for Civil & Environmental Consultants, Inc. (CEC), you'll be a part of project teams navigating today's complex environmental regulatory landscape. Working with clients, contractors, and government officials, you will be involved in the entire project from conceptual and design phases, through the regulatory review process, bidding, and construction. You will participate in wetland and stream delineation and ecological monitoring field activities; compile, analyze, and review data; prepare reports; assist with preparing permit applications; and, interact with clients and regulatory agencies.
Projects will/may include the following areas: wetland and stream assessments and delineations; threatened & endangered species habitat assessments; stream and wetland restoration monitoring; and, erosion and sedimentation compliance monitoring.
Qualifications
B.A. or B.S. in a natural sciences field (e.g., Biology, Natural Resources, Environmental Engineering/Sciences, Ecology, and Geography)
2+ years of experience in ecological field work; Demonstrated experience performing wetland and waters field delineations and monitoring (experience in Ohio, Kentucky, Indiana, Illinois, Michigan, &/or West Virginia preferred); Demonstrated understanding of State and Federal permitting and regulations from agencies such as EPA, US Army Corps of Engineers, FEMA, USFWS, SHPO, DNR/DEQ, etc.; Preparation of technical reports; and, Ability to manage multiple activities and work on a team of technical professionals.
Additional / Preferred Qualifications
40 Hour Wetland delineation training or equivalent; ORAM, QHEI/HHEI, SQT training; GIS or CAD experience; SWPPP, Erosion & Sediment Control, Environmental Inspection experience; Plant identification experience; and, Valid drivers license.
