No prior knowledge of climate risk is required, but a strong sense of ownership and attention to detail is essential.
Job description J.P. Morgan's Climate Risk Management team is responsible for developing the firm's approach to climate-related risk management, including both transition and physical risks. The candidate in this role will bring strong data analysis and communication skills to the team to support the development of firmwide reporting capabilities and external disclosures. This is an excellent opportunity to contribute to an exciting and rapidly evolving field within the financial services industry, with high focus and visibility within J.P. Morgan. We are looking for exceptional candidates with well-rounded skills, including performing quantitative analysis, managing large datasets in Excel, R or Python, and communicating key insights effectively. No knowledge of climate risk or sustainability is required for this role. The candidate should be highly-motivated to help us establish a comprehensive firmwide reporting framework based on high-quality data analysis. The individual needs to be a self-starter, able to articulate clearly the 'story behind the data', and have excellent attention to detail. We greatly value a candidate who has a keen sense of ownership and responsibility in each task performed. The individual will also be working with a variety of different teams across the firm, learning about the many aspects relevant in measuring the potential implications of climate change on a large global financial institution such as JPMorgan Chase. Key Responsibilities Become an expert in the datasets we use to manage climate risk, identifying key trends and insights, and communicating them effectively Help to develop and maintain climate risk reports, ensuring that the data used is appropriate, accurate and well-organised Contribute content to the firm's public and regulatory disclosures Create impactful presentations showing key data trends and insights Perform research on a range of climate related topics that affect the firm's activities Help address regulatory expectations and requirements for managing climate-related risk Desired Skills and Experience Strong university degree (2:1 equivalent or above) in a quantitative subject Excellent analytical skills: proficient in Excel modelling and comfortable working large datasets; good knowledge of R and Python Strong attention to detail, with knowledge of data validation techniques and an impulse to check data thoroughly to ensure accuracy Strong sense of ownership and ability to work independently in producing deliverables with high standards and within tight deadlines Ability to convey information clearly, accurately and succinctly (both written and verbally) Ability to draft high-impact presentations and documentation, strong attention to detail We recognize that our people are our strength and the diverse talents they bring to our global workforce are directly linked to our success.
