Job Description:

We are seeking a dedicated Senior Environmental Planner:
Climate and Energy Program Assistant to join our team for a 4-month externship. This role offers an exciting opportunity to support critical environmental planning efforts related to climate resilience and sustainable energy programs in Washington, DC.

As an extern, you will work closely with our team to advance projects that promote climate adaptation and energy efficiency. You will gain hands-on experience in environmental planning while contributing to meaningful initiatives that positively impact the local community.

Key Responsibilities
• Climate and Energy Program Support:
Assist in the development and implementation of climate resilience and energy efficiency programs.
Conduct research and analysis on climate adaptation strategies and renewable energy solutions.
Support the preparation of technical reports, presentations, and public outreach materials.
• Policy and Planning Assistance:
Participate in stakeholder meetings, workshops, and events related to climate and energy initiatives.
Assist with policy analysis to identify opportunities for program improvements.
Provide planning support to ensure projects align with regional and local environmental goals.
• Community Engagement:
Collaborate with team members to engage residents and organizations in climate and energy programs.
Contribute to outreach campaigns designed to raise awareness of sustainability initiatives.

Qualifications
• Education: A degree or current enrollment in Environmental Science, Urban Planning, Public Policy, or a related field.
• Experience:
Previous coursework or professional experience in climate change, energy planning, or environmental policy preferred.
• Skills:
Strong analytical, research, and communication skills; familiarity with Microsoft Office and GIS software is a plus.
• Eligibility:
Must be a current resident of Washington, DC.
