Job description
South Cambridgeshire District Council is seeking a passionate and dynamic Climate Strategy Officer to join its award-winning Climate and Environment Team. This is an exciting opportunity to support the development of our new Climate and Nature Strategy, as well as working on key net zero projects and contributing to our Green to Our Core programme.
The successful candidate will play a key role in shaping the future of our climate initiatives, bringing fresh ideas from both the UK and international best practices. With our Climate and Nature Strategy set to be published in 2025, we are looking for someone who is proactive, creative, and ready to help us achieve our ambitious environmental goals whilst ensuring alignment with national and international frameworks. The Climate Strategy Officer will collaborate with internal teams, stakeholders, and partners to design and implement net zero initiatives, contributing to the Council’s Green to Our Core programme, helping to drive sustainability across the district.
We are seeking an environmental professional with experience in delivering climate, sustainability or environmental strategies in local government or the public sector whilst keeping up to date with emerging environmental policies and best practices. Candidates should have extensive knowledge of the UK’s climate goals and net-zero frameworks, including key legislation such as the Climate Change Act.
