Job Description
Cornell University is seeking a part-time Climate Justice & Community Resilience Coordinator in Middletown, NY. The role involves coordinating volunteer programs, managing events, and supporting program delivery and administration. Qualifications include an Associate's degree or equivalent experience, proficiency in Microsoft Office and social media, and Spanish language skills. The position offers benefits and requires flexible hours, including evenings and some Saturdays.
Cornell Cooperative Extension of Orange County Climate Justice and Community Resilience Program Coordinator The Program Coordinator will provide program coordination and support to the Climate Steward and Community Builder Volunteer Programs, organizing and coordinating all Climate Justice and Community Resilience activities, events, and reporting processes. The position is part‑time, non‑exempt, benefits‑eligible, and works 30 hours per week.
Responsibilities and Essential Functions Program Delivery – Assist in sourcing program resources and materials, utilize existing resources during onboarding, and support educational programs on an as‑needed basis.
Administrative Responsibilities – Plan and develop programs, assist with budgeting and financial planning, manage volunteer orientation and support, maintain program records, and prepare reporting documents.
Coordination/Operation – Coordinate and support Climate Justice and Community Resilience programs and events, manage registration and setup, handle communication with participants and the public, schedule space and resources, organize refreshments, maintain confidentiality, and ensure accurate paperwork and database entry.
Professional Improvement – Develop and pursue a professional development plan, collaborate on initiatives that support the organization’s priorities, and perform other duties as assigned.
Health and Safety – Support a safe work environment, follow applicable regulations and policies, and proactively prevent accidents or injuries.
EEO/EPO and Policy – Maintain professional and respectful interactions with all stakeholders and adhere to association policies and procedures.
Qualifications Associate’s degree or equivalent education; GED/High School Diploma with at least two years of transfer‑able program or functional experience is acceptable.
Demonstrated computer proficiency with Microsoft Office, Google Applications, Qualtrics, and Canva.
Experience using common social media platforms.
Excellent organizational and communication skills, both written and oral.
Proficiency in Spanish, written and spoken.
Valid driver’s license and acceptable motor vehicle record; ability to travel as required.
Ability to work flexible hours, including evenings and at least one Saturday per month.
Preferred Qualifications Experience planning and evaluating informal educational programs through diverse delivery methods.
Background or experience in community organizing.
Compensation and Benefits Hourly rate: $23.64 per hour.
