Job Description

Quanta Infrastructure Solutions Group is seeking a Civil & Structural Designer in Birmingham, AL, to support EPC projects in the power sector, including renewables and battery energy storage. Responsibilities include drafting plans, conducting field investigations, assisting with cost estimates, and collaborating with engineers. Candidates should have an associate degree, 7 years of experience in civil/structural design, and proficiency in relevant software. This is a full-time, mid-senior level position.

We are seeking a Civil & Structural Designer to join our dynamic team supporting full EPC (Engineering, Procurement, and Construction) projects in the power sector. This includes work on gas turbines, renewables, battery energy storage systems (BESS), substations, and transmission systems. You will play a key role in developing civil and structural design deliverables and construction packages, ensuring quality, accuracy, and interdisciplinary coordination.
What

You’ll Do
• Interpret civil/structural calculations and interdisciplinary drawings
• Draft civil/structural plans and develop construction documents
• Conduct field investigations to verify clearances and design feasibility
• Assist with cost estimation, material take-offs, and preliminary design studies
• Review and validate drawings from other drafters
• Collaborate with engineers and support construction activities
• Mentor junior designers and contribute to team development
What You Bring
• Associate degree in Engineering Technology or Computer-Aided Drafting
• Minimum 7 years of experience in civil/structural drafting and design, preferably in EPC environments
• Proficiency in AutoCAD, Civil 3D, Revit, Navisworks, and Microsoft Office Suite
• Strong knowledge of civil/structural materials and construction practices
• Ability to interpret vendor equipment drawings and integrate them into designs
• Familiarity with EPC workflows and interdisciplinary coordination
• Strong communication and presentation skills
• Ability to estimate task durations and meet deadlines
Physical Requirements
• Ability to sit, stand, or walk for extended periods
• Willingness to travel occasionally for field verification and support
