Job Description
GEV Wind Power is seeking Wind Turbine Service Technicians II in Canada, particularly in Alberta and Saskatchewan. Candidates should have over 2 years of relevant experience and be able to perform maintenance and troubleshooting on wind turbines. The role requires physical capability to work at heights and involves an 8-week on, 1-week off rotation. Certifications in safety and technical training are necessary. Salary ranges from CA$32–CA$35 per hour.
Immediate need for Wind Turbine Service Technicians II who can start immediately, with experience in maintenance, punchlists, and construction support.
As a Wind Turbine Service Technician II you will be responsible to service newly operational wind turbine generators:
• Travel to and work at wind farms in Alberta and Saskatchewan Canada
• Assist other wind technicians, while under the supervision of lead techs
• May be authorized to perform specific tasks independently or under supervision
• Work performed may include any of the following:
• Supporting site management on various punch-list tasks
• Torquing and tensioning
• Break-in, quarterly (500 hr), 6-month and annual wind turbine maintenance without supervision
• Unscheduled maintenance
• Light troubleshooting
• Defective parts removal and replacement using proper work instructions
• Large component replacement, retrofits, troubleshooting and other special assignments
• Continue to develop and expand wind maintenance skillset through on-the-job training and train others in performing service work
• Work safely, competently and productively under the direction of others
• Keep records, maintain documentation and report technical and safety issues
Must meet the following requirements, have or obtain the listed required certifications and training (may be provided) including, but not limited to:
• Must have 2+ years of related experience performing Wind Turbine service work
• Local to Canada (Alberta or Saskatchewan preferred); Canadian citizen or work authorized
• Ability to work an 8 week on, 1 week off rotation
• Physically able to safely climb wind turbines up to 90m+ (300+ feet), stand, stoop, walk, crawl, crouch, stoop and generally meet the physical demands of the position.
• Must have strong experience doing torquing and tensioning
• Must have experience using a grease gun, doing filter changes, using ERAD system, doing torquing and tensioning and similar service
• Valid and current driving license with a satisfactory driving record (satisfactory MVR is required)
• Must be 21 years of age to be able to drive a company vehicle
• Must be able to proficiently read, write and speak English
• Satisfactory criminal background check
• Must have the following certifications, or will train:
• GWO BST (Basic Safety Training) - fire awareness, working at heights, manual handling, first aid
• GWO BTT (Basic Technical Training) - electrical, hydraulic, mechanical
• Siemens Basic Technician training
• Crane, Chain Hoist and Rigging Safety Training
• NFPA 70E Arc-Flash Awareness or similar
• Prefer training or experience with Touchscreen Controller Hand Terminals
