Job Description
AGL Energy Limited is seeking a Wind Remote Monitoring Technician to provide remote monitoring and support for wind farms in Australia. The role involves ensuring turbine uptime, executing remote operations, and collaborating on procedures. Candidates should have relevant trade or engineering qualifications and experience in remote monitoring, preferably in the wind sector. This position is based in Melbourne on a 12-month fixed-term contract with a rotating shift roster.

About the role We’re expanding our in-house renewables operations and maintenance capability and as part of this, we’re establishing a brand-new Wind Remote Monitoring Technician team. This is your chance to play a leading role in shaping how AGL monitors and operates its wind assets across Australia. In this newly created role, you’ll provide remote monitoring and support for AGL’s wind farms, ensuring safe, reliable, and efficient operations. From turbine resets and alarm escalation to contributing to operating protocols and performance reporting, you’ll be at the heart of a crucial new function. Location: Melbourne Corporate | 12-Month Fixed Term Contract Rotating Shift Roster | Pioneering New In-House Wind Capability What you’ll be doing: Monitor AGL’s wind assets in real-time, ensuring turbine uptime through remote resets and swift alarm escalation Execute remote stop/starts of turbines as directed by authorised Wind Technicians Develop and refine procedures and documentation for the new Monitoring Team in collaboration with Engineering and O&M Assist with outage coordination, maintenance scheduling and dispatch conformance with AGLDC and AEMO Engage with Wind Operations & Maintenance teams to support optimal asset performance Actively contribute to the safe and compliant running of AGL’s Wind fleet, adhering to HSE and cybersecurity best practices What you’ll bring: Relevant trade or engineering qualifications – wind or generation sector experience highly regarded Proven experience in remote monitoring and control of generation assets (wind experience preferred) Experience working autonomously on a rotating shift roster Familiarity with SCADA systems such as Citect, SC-Commander, and wind turbine SCADA (Suzlon, Vestas, etc.) Understanding of Remote Balance of Plant (BOP) systems Familiarity with AEMO, NER, GPS and regulatory frameworks related to generation Skills & Traits: Clear verbal communication and escalation ability – you're calm and effective under pressure Excellent written skills to contribute to team procedures and clear reporting Strong attention to detail and disciplined approach to process and protocol Technically minded with a strong safety focus Collaborative and proactive – ready to shape a new team and function from the ground up If this sounds like your next role, go ahead and apply no later then 11.55pm, Thursday, 1st of May 2025.
