The Wildlife Coordinator at Lone Mountain Land Company is responsible for wildlife educational outreach and monitoring across various properties in Big Sky, MT. Key duties include educating staff and guests on wildlife safety, monitoring wildlife populations, managing wildlife attractants, and preparing reports. Lone Mountain Land Company (LMLC) manages the planning, entitlement, building, marketing, and sale of premier real estate communities around Big Sky, Montana. The company supports world-class operations at Spanish Peaks Mountain Club and Moonlight Basin and oversees real estate activities at Spanish Peaks, Moonlight Basin, Big Sky Town Center, and other projects in the Big Sky region.

Position Summary

The Wildlife Coordinator role is primarily responsible for executing wildlife educational outreach and monitoring activities across properties owned by Lone Mountain Land Company (LMLC). This extends over Yellowstone Club (YC), Town Center (TC), Moonlight Basin (MLB), Crazy Mountain Ranch (CMR), and Spanish Peaks (SP) developments. Under the oversight of the manager, the position will lead efforts to educate contractors, employees, and members/guests about keeping wildlife wild and ensuring safety. Additionally, the role involves monitoring wildlife populations and behavioral patterns both on LMLC properties and in the broader area. The position will leverage both internal and external staffing to implement on-the-ground initiatives regarding wildlife management and conservation efforts.

Key Responsibilities
• Ensure all Members and guests are provided with relevant educational materials on wildlife safety and wellbeing.
• Educate employees across all LMLC properties on safe practices to help keep wildlife wild.
• Coordinate with property security teams to educate contractors on proper storage of wildlife attractants.
• Monitor and analyze general wildlife patterns across LMLC properties and compare them to broader wildlife trends in the region.
• Monitor and maintain camera traps across properties to gather wildlife data.
• Prepare and submit annual wildlife reports for each of the properties.
• Foster and maintain a positive working relationship with all LMLC team members and promote a collaborative and supportive working environment.
• Assess TC, MLB, YC, CMR, and SP activities to establish where wildlife attractants require management.
• Monitor wildlife incidents, identify problems, and implement solutions to mitigate future incidents.
• Develop and execute strategies and action plans to establish and maintain wildlife monitoring and annual reporting.
• Design and implement educational outreach to members, staff, and contactors to promote human safety and proper management of wildlife attractants.
• Ensure staff at all levels are properly trained and foster an understanding of how their own contributions improve wildlife habitat.
• Maintain a safe working environment providing safety training, safety equipment, and ensuring compliance with industry, OSHA, and company safety standards.
• Serve as a role model in work ethic, attitude, safety, conduct, and professionalism.
• Organize, assign, and manage workloads, projects, and schedules.
• Cultivate and manage relations with management, internal staff, and other departments.
• Actively pursue personal training and development opportunities directly related to the Environmental Program.
• Develop and maintain accurate records of work projects.
• Oversees the maintenance of tools, equipment, and supplies.
• Performs related and unrelated duties as assigned.
• Complies with LMLC policies and procedures.
• Combines hands-on work with administrative duties.
• Provide coverage for routine compliance inspections as needed under the guidance of the Environmental Compliance Manager.
• Assist with mapping, inventory, and monitoring of forestry areas and noxious weed infestations, ensuring accurate data for land management.

Qualifications & Experience
• Bachelor's Degree in a biological Science field is required.
• Five+ years of work-related skill, knowledge, and experience is preferred.
• Equivalent combination of education and experience that provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities to comfortably execute the required job tasks.
• Ability to observe critically and evaluate findings.
• Ability to communicate effectively based on the audience.
• Ability to interpret complex scientific and regulatory documents and reports.
• Proven experience using communication and organizational skills to accomplish goals.
• Excellent knowledge of local wildlife species and habits.
• Solid understanding with computer modeling, digital mapping, and geographic information systems.
• Knowledge of local wildlife habits.
• Knowledge of the method and techniques of collecting and analyzing data.
• Knowledge of state and federal laws and acts, legal codes, precedents, government regulations, and executive orders.
• Solid Knowledge of Microsoft Excel, Word, and Outlook.
• Able to speak clearly and effectively with Members, guests, co-workers, vendors, and other departments. Able to write clearly and legibly.
• Able to perform basic math calculations.
• Ability to solve basic problems and/or know when it is necessary to get assistance in problem solving.
