Luther College is hiring a Visiting Instructor in Economics for a one-year position starting Fall 2025 in Decorah, IA. Luther College seeks an economist for a one-year visiting instructor position to begin Fall 2025. We seek candidates with an ability and interest in teaching courses spread over fall, January, and spring term including: Econometrics, statistics, and intermediate microeconomics and/or a senior research seminar.
Candidates with an interest in contributing to our interdisciplinary programs such as environmental studies or international studies are particularly encouraged to apply. Additional courses, based on the applicant’s area of expertise and needs of the college, may include but are not limited to courses such as environmental economics, development economics, and international trade.
Applicants should hold a PhD or expect to complete all requirements by September 1, 2025. A Master’s degree or ABD will be considered at the Instructor rank. The successful candidate will communicate knowledge of and interest in teaching at Luther College. Candidates should demonstrate potential for excellence in college teaching and effectiveness in mentoring undergraduates.

Major Midwest metropolitan areas within a three-hour driving distance include Des Moines, IA; Minneapolis/St. Paul, MN; and Madison, WI. The current salary range for this position is $61,000–$68,000 for visiting assistant professors with 0-5 years of experience; and $77,000 to $82,000 for visiting associate professors with 0-5 years in rank; placement on scale is dependent on credentials and applicable experience.
