Job Description

The City of Georgetown is hiring a Utilities Conservation Coordinator to manage water conservation programs and projects. Responsibilities include conducting irrigation audits, analyzing water savings data, developing educational resources, and collaborating with stakeholders. The role requires a bachelor's degree in a related field and experience in irrigation system management or water conservation. Strong communication and analytical skills are essential for promoting water efficiency.

Coordinating water conservation programs, projects, and plans. Develops and implements new programs and projects required by system growth, efficiency improvements, and regulatory requirements. A primary responsibility will be managing our Controller Assistance Program, which includes conducting irrigation system audits, analyzing water savings data, and providing customers with recommendations for more efficient water use.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
• Conducts irrigation system audits, evaluating consumption data, recommending irrigation controller settings, and identifying efficiency improvements.
• Analyze and report on water savings data related to the Controller Assistance Program and other department initiatives.
• Develop and organize educational classes and resources for the public, including contractors, landscape irrigators, and builders.
• Communicates and interacts with the public to promote an understanding of water conservation.
• Monitor and assess existing water conservation programs, evaluating participation, impact, and effectiveness.
• Prepares reports, studies, and recommendations on water conservation for customers, city leadership, and stakeholders.
• Researches water conservation policies, best practices, and legislation to recommend changes to conservation initiatives.
• Collaborates with other area water conservation personnel to benchmark water and drought restrictions and programs and to implement common water conservation policies and standards, when appropriate.
• Performs other duties as assigned.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university with major coursework in, Environmental Studies, Natural Science, Planning, and Resource Management or in a closely related field. Two (2) years of full-time experience related to automatic irrigation system design, installation, maintenance, or water conservation program management. OR High school diploma or equivalent with relevant experience.

Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:
• Irrigation system installation, maintenance, and repair.
• Familiarity with smart irrigation technology, including advanced controllers, sensors, and weather-based irrigation systems.
• Drought management strategies, regional water restrictions, and best practices for sustainable landscaping.
• Water efficiency technologies, practices, programs and rebate requirements.
• Safety practices and procedures.
• Federal, State and Local water conservation laws, regulations, practices and techniques.
• Methods of data collection and analysis.
• Diagnosing and troubleshooting irrigation system issues
• Analyzing the effectiveness of conservation programs and initiating program improvements.
• Communicating effectively, orally and in writing.
• Establishing and maintaining effective working relationships.
• Planning and goal setting.
• Using computer and related software.
• Implementing programs and related policies and procedures.
• Develop and administer appropriate program training and communications materials.
• Making judgments pertaining to repair needs and supply needs.
• Finding safe effective solutions to problems.

LICENSES AND CERTIFICATION REQUIREMENTS

Valid Class C Texas Driver's License

Landscape Irrigator (LI) license OR must obtain required licenses within six (6) months of selection to position.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS AND WORKING ENVIRONMENT

Standing, sitting, walking, lifting, carrying, pushing, pulling, reaching, handling, fine dexterity, crouching, bending, vision, hearing, talking, use of foot controls.

Hiring Range: $56,434.04 - $70,678.40, annually.
